What's next?
Are we just gonna rehash old music forever or what?

there's only 12 notes and we pretty much used all pleasant melodies that can be found with them. notice how many new hip hop/pop songs """interpolate""" (steal from old songs) and how even most alternative bands release albums where 2 songs are listenable and sound "new"

melodies can be recycled as long as you do something interesting/novel with the arrangement.

I always wondered what happens when we run out of melodies and it looks like we've finally hit that point

12 factorial=479001600 plus rhythmic and harmonic variations. we didn't run out of melodies, people just don't give a shit anymore.

I guess so, I'm not super interested in a completely "new" sound like Royal Trux for example, I much prefer bands that kinda have a sound of all different generations and genres mixed together
