>musician past his prime
>releases a series of crappy albums
>suddenly makes his best record
Any more examples of this?

Both are great and in their respective top 10 but still not their best ones. Dylan's best is either Blonde On Blonde or John Wesley Harding. Fahey's best is either Requia or America.

Hey! Firstly Bob was 34 he wasn’t past his prime. Secondly New Morning and Forever Young are both good albums. Self Portrait and Nashville Skyline are crappy though

Nashville Skyline was a solid album. Forever Young is just a song title. The album is Planet Waves. He also released an incredible live album Before the Flood during that time frame.

OP is a faggot

Nashville Skyline is one of the only Bob Dylan albums that I will give any attention to anymore, alongside his Billy the Kid soundtrack album and some of John Wesley Harding. The rest of the discography leaves me cold.

John Wesley Harding may be his most underrated album.

I just got the new blu ray criterion version of pat garrett and billy the kid. It looks fantastic.

Correct, I like one of his albums and songs on two others.

Devo's Something For Everybody and its sequel Something ELSE For Everybody are two late career masterpieces, and they came out after 25 years of dreck

Self Portrait is beyond amazing. New Morning is wonderful, as are Nashville Skyline and Planet Waves (the album that contains FY twice, to reiterate what >>127505799 says). Do yourself an favour and listen again.

Its certainly his weakest album of th 60s and 70s It would have benefitted from being trimmed down.

This allbum sucked because all of the great hooks in Beck's older stuff that made him good were pilfered samples. Then sea change was just some regular ass mopey indie pretty typical of the time.
