These are great compositions and composers, and I would likely choose nearly none of these as the best recorded versions of them (Richter's Bach? nigga please)

I like it fine but you're up your own ass if you think he's the peak, particularly for those compositions.

Atonal music sucks. Dissonant tonal music is a million times better.

HIP in classical music means means "historically informed performance". HIPsters are proponents of that approach.

Unironocally how does one approach classical music as a beginner? Obviously there's the composers themselves to look into but then each composition has like a hundred different recordings

just listen to the most well-known conductors and the most famous orchestras desu

Don't worry about that yet. The important thing is just to find stuff that you like. I think a very nice entry into it is to listen to Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto (and romanticism in general). It is at the same time, in my view, one of the most beautiful things ever written in music. I like this specific version (to return to Richter and give him some love now, guy above). It's very easy to listen to and extremely affecting. I think from there you'll be motivated to simply look into it more. You can easily take hints from this specific recording (the conductor, pianist, publisher, orchestra, year, etc) to figure out trails to follow. Don't let others give you too much of a guide.
