>6-albums-long streak of pure kinos
Has their achievement been surpassed? Not even The Beatles can claim that

My favorite bands are Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) and The Beatles.
The Beatles is superior thoguh. They're in a league of their own.

AKA rock and roll from US + country and folk from the US but with more annoying aesthetics. I do grant you that they're responsible for it though.

God I love wrong but the other albums never stood out to me and I can't say I checked out more than 4 or 5 of them. Wrong was life changing possibly the first "punk" album I liked. Friend would get wasted and blast the songs yelling the lyrics while he stomped around.

influential/essential in the creation of psychedelic rock and jangle among other things. they also popularized the album format by making albums great from start to finish instead of the standard single+album filler format that most pop albums followed. lets also remember that ozzy stated numerous times that if there were no beatles there would be no black sabbath so you can thank the beatles for inventing your heavy metal band too

Well the Beatles had like seven from Rubber Soul through Let It Be but I'm not saying those are better. Pink Floyd had six from Atom Heart Mother through the Wall, which I would say is a more impressive streak.

Wtf? III was their best album when it came out. It was a huge improvement over the previous two. I would say that II is probably their low point.

No doubting the importance of the Beatles in terms of influence to those genres, though they invented neither. Black Sabbath's relation to a completely new genre sound is closer than the Beatles.
>ozzy stated numerous times that if there were no beatles there would be no black sabbath so you can thank the beatles for inventing your heavy metal band too
I guess I should just thank Chuck Berry for metal then right? Or maybe it should be Bill Haley?

Animal Collective have a better discography than the Beatles.
Same number of albums but without the cheesy Buddy Holly ripoff stuff from the Beatles’ entire early career.

I do appreciate the effort. I'll say even here the Beatles are a little further removed than Black Sabbath. The first psych record was made in the US with 13FE, in the same sense that Black Sabbath was the first metal record (with neither really fully getting there but both putting all the pieces in place). Other bands all had their role in setting things up to get to both points, with the Beatles no doubt included, but none necessarily having the distinction (it's still regarded by consensus only so it can be argued).

They are a million times better than Brian Wilson. I'm so fucking sick of that shit comparison being made. If anything is melodic, you idiots say it's ripping off the Beach Boys. Brain Wilson didn't do shit like ODDSAC, or even anything as full and triumphant sounding as Merriweather. Neither of those are Animal Collective's best albums by the way, just giving examples.

In the same month of the same year, the Sonics released The Witch as a single, which to my ears is an almost direct association to the sound of psychedelic a short time later. I think that's more important than feedback - not to deny the role the Beatles played in other ways though.

Indeed. But Sonics were also quite unique to garage in terms of their guitar sound. You can tell me which two songs sound most alike here between these three, with the first two released in the same month and year.

People like to overstate the Beatles' influence because they're popular and listeners have an emotional attachment to the mythology of the Beatles. If the Beatles didn't actually invent all of these things then you are invalidating how super special revolver or sgt peppers sounded to them when they were 12
