African American slang makes extremely heavy use of the word "shit" in so many different contexts, to the point where I'd be surprised to hear a "hood" black have a conversation where he isn't saying it every two minutes.
She just leaned a bit too hard into it by using the slang in a song (not that unusual, 2 Chainz has a song where he sang "yeah I'm the shit, I should have Febreze on me") and in that interview where she said "I be shitting on bitches" or something.
None of it meant poop in the literal sense, but for someone whose entire career and appeal revolves around her ass, it's a pretty stupid thing to constantly talk about.
It's like someone who's famous for their amazing hair constantly using lice analogies.
