Chart Thread
Same stuff per usual.
Post a chart of your favorite albums. Other people either rec you stuff or make guesses about you. It's fun.

do you think you have to listen to rap or you'll be a racist or something?

I don't think that, no. I always found it weirdly reductive to summarize black culture with one genre when there's so much more to it than that (early rock, Blue Note, Motown, P-Funk, Minneapolis Sound, just to name a few.)
Kind of a weird question to ask out of the blue since less than 10% of my chart is rap. Either way, no, it's not racist to dislike / not care for hip hop.

You are a well-rounded individual and I would be your friend. Tones for Joan's Bones is such a great album. You took the fusion/smooth jazz pill too it seems. These are my top 25 albums for 2025 so far (I'll update at the end of the year).

Good job giving props to ascension, the greatest jazz album in my opinion. Wild is the wind is also a good pick. I don't really know what to suggest because you overrate a lot of pop crap. I'd say listen to purple sun just in general, and olatunji and machine gun. Also listen to free jazz by coleman if you like asension.

It's not racist to dislike hip hop, but the way in which people attack it sort of is. I have no problems saying that I look it but do not even begin to consider it close to a serious art as classical, jazz, or rock. Most people here say "black people can't make music" and stuff though so there way of saying this sentiment is sort of racist.

Everyone is brainwashed into liking different styles of pop (as rap is now) music. It is no different than whites in the 90s being brainwashed by mtv into raving over shitty bands like Pearl Jam that offer nothing. Record companies always shill their horseshit but there is some good hip hop as there is some good grunge, just never as good as other styles of music.

the answer is, yes, zoomers do generally believe that
if they listen to too many white artists in a row they stop and say "really, bro?" and then put on some rap and wait for it to be over before going back to stuff they actually like

I own a good chunk of these on vinyl and want to own even more of them. I don't like Rick's sophomore album nearly as much as the debut though. Otherwise a lot of this looks like intriguing stuff.

Again: there is barely any hip hop on my chart to begin with. Why that was the first thing you brought up is beyond me unless your entire goal was just to thread derail.

okay but isn't metal like aggresive white people music

also why can't you channel your aggression into writing while living in the an area plagued by generational hardship

Faust as your #1 is awesome, i adore that album
listen to Sprain and Shearling if you haven't, most people who are into scaruffi-core seem to either love or hate them but their newest album reminds me a lot of Faust with the sound collage approach

>Comparing the most ambitious, inventive, and important project in the history of rock music to a guy who fails at playing 63 different instruments for an hour with an extremely grating and overemotive vocal performance and the most stupid lyrics of all time and an album of glenn branca (or rather swans because they do not know who glenn branca is) sugarcoated 30 times which is self-indulgent "art" slop as it is an incredible bore
I mean what are we doing, those sprain and "shearling" albums were a hot mess of complete shit and repackaged ideas. I saw retards in the rym comment box comparing it to Scott Walker and it doesn't sound fuck all like it but if you like it listen to Tilt (the best) or Bish Bosch which is literally just everything I think whatever talentless hack behind sprain wanted that to be, much more artistic, inspired, and original.
