Radio standards changed, they don't play anything that's too long or demanding to listeners as in the 70s-early 90s. For decades now, many stations barely even play full songs anymore, they cut after the second chorus.

This idea makes me laugh. Average young rock musician today is better than they were 30 years ago when there was a ton of money in rock. It's a much smaller slice of pie that rock musicians are after now so there is absolutely no room for error. And zoomers don't drink much so they play better live. One huge caveat: shoegaze pedal worship is worse now than ever and yes that covers for people who don't know how to play. But young rock bands who are not playing shoegaze/aren't obsessed with pedal fuckery absolutely play well and excel live.

Musical styles absolutely run their course. There's no Mozart style symphonies beibg written today because Mozart perfected that style and writing any more would be redundant. Nobody's saying instrumental guitar music is totally done for, but the classic rock, blues, fusion guitar solo is.
