Not quite. He stuck to his guns for a few years recording swing and ballad albums the same way he had done at Capitol. Reprise was supposed to be his independent creative outlet after all. It wasn't until he sold the company to Warner Bros in 1963 that the bean counters took over, purged the roster of most of its old school acts and tried to make it compete in the top 40 market. Sinatra was allowed to stay but he had to accept a more middle-road Andy Williams approach. He was still allowed a token concept album every so often, like September of My Years and Moonlight Sinatra, and pet projects like the Jobim and Ellington collaborations.
