probably not.

but basically the sax forces the notes into a certain chromatic scale. indian music uses many more notes than that chromatic scale. the western chromatic scale has the same distance between each step, whereas the indian scales are built upon mathematical ratios.

I think there's wind instruments from India that are also used in Carnatic music and have a kinda similar sound to the Sax. This is from south india:

To elaborate a little bit on that: The 2 percussion instruments in that performance are traditional. The ghatam (the clay pot), and the mrdangam (the 2 headed drum).

The violin is obviously an adopted instrument from the west like the saxophone.

John McLaughlin (a famous jazz guitarist) had a band called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahavishnu_Orchestra but im not sure how much inspiration from indian music that onetook.

However, he also had another band called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakti_(band) and a bunch of the players were from traditional indian styles of music.
