Certainly, I can’t be the only one who finds it suspicious he’s been getting all these accolades and praises for the past two years? Seems like he’s being pushed to work with all these “pro-Palestine” artists so said artists’ politics won’t be taken seriously on the basis their producer is Israeli.

What are you talking about? He’s been one of the hottest producers for the past 25 years.

no, thats just how you heard of him.
in the smallish world of dusty Unc-hop he's considered a respected 20+year legend, gave a lot of people their best projects and a rare example of an artist who arguably got better as they hit their 30s and 40s.
he doesnt even seem like a remotely political guy, I'm sure at the end of the day he will side with his own people but his life seems mostly concerned with smoking weed and digging for samples

His best work was the stuff he did with Prodigy.

>take obscure 60s soul single
>sample like 10 seconds off it
>either pitch the sound up or down
>don't even bother adding new drums or anything
>add audio sample from movies like Scarface
>get some hipster Reddit rapper like Earl Sweatshirt to spit over it
That's Uncle Al for you.

I will never forgive him for inspiring thousands of talentless dudes in the underground to make “drumless” slop.

i still want my money back from seeing him live for Step Brothers, for such a large catalogue anyone is bound to have a few gems here and there but any producer that is primarily sample-based is hard to find impressive unless they are like Stoupe and actually put together a bunch of esoteric shit like on this album https://youtu.be/lqozyKanYFg?si=OO43DtuXQ0IpQxSX

Tony Mansfield is better and can actually compose instead of stealing samples for a living, Alchemist has worked with Em and still has never produced anything that can come close what would become the greatest song of all time, heck I'd even say Kanye is better, yes he is good in the realm of hip-hop but that isn't saying much when simple loops like Metro Boomin are praised nowadays https://youtu.be/dDRTSz8uLs0?si=sNouIQAK-ZyKrgMv

Your boy Al has never been big into 60s records. More like find a random European prog rock album from the 70s, skim through it, find something cool to loop, then let it rock.

>>127546841
Daringer is the one who really started that. Alchemist just followed the obvious trend. The thing about these two is that they are actually talented producers who choose interesting samples that work for the artists rapping over them. Whether they are just simply looping something that sounds cool or chopping the hell out of it, see:
https://youtu.be/GFSfBEgDxTA
they are producers who understand what their role is. It's not to upstage the rapper and take away attention from them. It's to give them something that fits. Something that meshes with their style.

The drumless thing might be a little bit played out now but most of the people who whine about it are white guys with Wu Tang tattoos. Unc isn't even the right word for them, they're rapidly approaching grandpa age.

By the way I want to say if you hate the drumless shit so much go check out that new Roc Marciano project produced by DJ Premier. I only liked one track on it but if you want old fashioned shit it should be right up your alley.
