Focus is well-played and well-written, but not what I'd call very good. It was the lamest of jazzy technical life metal up to that point. Only considered death metal because of scene associations, and their 90's demos which got close to the genre through a technical death-thrash sound. It's like Slaughter of the Soul; it's not outright bad, but all of the terrible parts of the post-death heavy/prog metal it would inspire are there and prominent. >>126917668

False (see DMU's favorites) but that would still be based if true.

I know, it sucks that there's no median sound between Focus and TiA. Chances are it would have continued the sound of "How Could I" and "Textures".

I don't what metalfags you were talking to. I would've told you it's good. Most of the people here who trash it are trying too hard to fit in. Though the robot voice stuff understandably filters most people, it's not as bad as some make it out to be. Also the cover looks like a vag.

first time in a while that /mu/ had a solid recommendation for a band i've absolutely never heard of
ty anon, this is a solid intro to them
>>127614583 >metalheads hate what's technical/progressive because it's different >>not so, these guys here like uphold metal that's technical/progressive plenty >that doesn't fit my narrow definition of technical/progressive >>sounds like you hate what's different >metalheads hate what's different o algo
Your talent of talking in circles would make you a successful politician.

Your talent of talking in circles would make you a successful politician.

Itโs โHumanโ, but on acid, which is fine with me. Itโs a legendary album that any metal head should listen to at least one time in their life.
This was recorded in the 90s too, but >Recorded at Fussion Studios between early 1996 and late 1998. >Re-engineered, re-mixed and remastered in 2023 by Any Second.
It has those weird vocals with effect just like that Cynic iirc, the music is also technical, but a bit more brutal
