I like this chorus a lot its got nice harmony but then you got this funky bassline and jammy guitars. The falsetto throughout the song gets old so fast, the BeeGees knew you never did more falsetto than you needed. This guy just won't shut up the entire song.

7/10 song but not sure how repeated listenable it is but give them credit for making a catchy chorus.

I just find it a bit regressive since his last album was about aging, getting married and having children and the passage of time. And now we're back to "im a losey babaaaay so why dont you kill meeee" pop formula. The instrumental is good but it just sounds like it could have been a B-side a decade ago

Tame Impala’s fifth full-length album, Deadbeat, available on CD. On it, Parker sculpts a collection of wickedly potent club-psych explorations as a vehicle for some of his most direct, brain-wormy songwriting to date, recasting Tame Impala as a kind of future primitive rave act in the process.

Deadbeat sounds like the work of an artist with a leveled up mastery and bristles with a revitalized energy for experimentation. 12 songs crafted with a newfound embrace of spontaneity for the renowned perfectionist. How that manifests is a distinct minimalism and crunch to many of the tracks, with a clutch of crucial details, timbres and textures that add an ineffably new dimension to the sound, as well as a richer, more playful vocal range than ever.

I personally love Kevin’s vocals and feel they’re often an underrated part of his skill set. But on this particular song, the instrumental was sounding killer until he started singing. Way too thin and whiny sounding in the mix.

Are you serious?

Currents sold 1 million copies according to RIAA, and went #4 on Billboard. Slow Rush hit #3 and only sold 500k copies.

He's the 199th most listened to artist on Spotify. Literally the biggest psych act on the platform, next to like say Travis Scott, who featured him on his album Astroworld. He's also been on a Gorillaz album, did a song for the Barbie movie, and worked with Dia Lupa.

tl;dr He's huge given the music he makes.
Anonymous No.127638307
Even in the Slow Rush his percussion was pretty cool, listening to this the drumming sounds phoned in just like the rest of the song.
