what’s that phase called when you’re 16, lurking /mu/ and rym, listening to ok computer or loveless front to back like it’s a movie and realizing music is more than radio singles?

no avant teens were scouring the depths of rym so they could find obscure finnish post punk records that they'd only listen to for 10 minutes before giving it a 4/5 and posting about it on whatever half-niche social media they like to hang around in

I did listening to OK Computer at 12, Loveless at 13, discovered /mu/ at 14, and by 16 I had outgrown Radiohead and ascended

replace OK Computer with something more obscure like Built to Spill Ultimate Alternate Wavers

I'd say it's called being 16.
But why did it take you that long to hear about OK Computer? No Surprises is the most radio singlest radio single there is, to the point where it's generic sad music in montages. Karma Police and Paranoid Android aren't far behind. Can't say I've heard anything from loveless on the radio or TV but I've head similar stuff as soundtracks in TV shows.

Do people just not even accidentally hear anything the slightest bit different from absolute slop nowadays before getting snatched by internet pseud circles?

i clearly remember this phase when i was 14. i had these green panasonic headphones i would bring everywhere. good times. i defeated my genre tourism by connecting the dots on which /mu/core records appealed most to me (relationship of command, yank crime, leaves turn inside you) and diving head first into post-hardcore. ive been /phc/ pilled ever since

>massive attack, Depeche Mode
hey what's wrong with those anon, the only difference with radiohead is that the internet worships them for some reason
>tiktok brainrot
no surprises was generic sad music for about 10 years before tiktok was ever a thing
