I like the tactile feeling of a guitar. I'm not even that good. I just like exploring and noodling around, mostly with ambient type stuff. It's kind of therapeutic. I'm sure you could do the same with synths (get washed in ambient noises), but I'd be turning off all the beats and loops.. How much would a synth experience would it really be at that point?

a synth is an electronic sound sampler that you can both program or play around with
think of a mellotron, which is a proto-synthethizer: it's a keyboard instrument, but each key makes the sound of anything you pre-program it to make; woodwinds, strings, a full orchestra...
still, you can play around with it just like you would on any keyboard instrument
you can also just plug an electric guitar on a synth or any number of pedals, and it's still a guitar

Synths are fun though. I can't make a good sound for shit but I love putting on that sw brass and fucking around on the keyboard. Wrote more songs on the thing after discovering synth vsts than I ever did on guitar.

nah only talentless plebs with zero taste would think this. whats fun about pressing some buttons on a synth? you've never played an instrument lol. nothing more fun than strumming guitar or playing piano beautifully.

You can create any sound with 1000s of variations with a synth. A guitar will always just be a guitar.

I'm guitar brained. I enjoy electronic music and hearing novel sounds but at the end of the day I'm just attached to the sound of the guitar forever and always come back to it.
