i wanna say the crackdown on file sharing websites (in turn, blogs and sharethreads), the popularity of spotify and other streaming services (and its algorithmic approach to endlessly giving users stuff to consume), the lastfm compatibility script breaking, whatcd being shut down, the culture as a whole moving on, the insular nature of discord servers, and so on.. is largely why this place, and music fan discussion as a whole, has been stagnant for a good 10~15 years.

can't say i've moved on much either, i listen to the same genres as when i used to be active lol

the thing is that to be a tastemaker, on 4chan anyway, you have to accept that those artists might get associated with you and 4chan to some extent. You have to have very little self-consciousness to be a tastemaker. I wouldn't want the stuff I like to be in any way associated with that cringe
Anonymous No.127660614
>>127658717
This. I have such a unique taste that if I become famous later and display it, having previously done so on here, it'd be an undeniable link. It's sorry enough that it's 4chan, and even worse when it's the current and likely future state of this board. I'd rather make my own site at that point and leave this place to die as it should have.

I'm closest to RYMcore but only because I've listened to and like Pink Floyd and King Crimson. I just noticed Music for 18 Musicians in the Hampus section, it's a neat composition and performance, but I'm not exactly deep into minimalism or other classical.
>Do you have unique taste?
In aggregate, sure. But there's too much music to sort and listen to independently, so relying on databases, lists, reviewers, charts, and such filters that down, at the cost of pure uniqueness.

not a bad chart tho, most of what I know on there I like to some extent, there are some bangers and relatively few things I recoil from in horror
bonus points for Implant and Bufo Alvarius but you lose one for the inexplicable choice of Pentastar

you cant seriously be deluding yourself that Spotify gives a shit about this slow trickle of posts from a handful of people on a irrelevant Herzegovinian goat molesting newsgroup when they have every variety of state of the art data harvesting known to man already available to them
