I think out of the two (since I think they're near identical in quality) ItG is the superior one, but only slightly. I tell ya' the difference between that album and HtE (still a good record mind you) is pretty steep

The quality dropped after the first two albums but I still like Sign of the Hammer except for the instrumental wankery. Maybe two albums a year was too much for them to handle.

I do too but the wankery prevents me from calling that album fantastic, because Thunderpick is like fuckin 4 minutes long and is not fun to listen to for a single goddamned second
>Maybe two albums a year was too much for them to handle.
Judging how the next one came out a few years afterwards (wasn't fighting the world '86?) that's probably the culprit, yeah

I can't believe they put Thunderpick on that album. I mean Joey is a good bass player and all but that track is just stupid.
Into Glory Ride beats Battle Hymns if not by musical feats then simply because of the corniest unironic album cover. It's great though.

Don't Close Your Eyes is a fucking rancid ballad and Rock Me is generic glam but the rest of the album is incredible and a sizable step up in quality from Children of the Flame. Though because of those two songs (seriously I wanted to drill my ears in during that goddamned ballad, I FUCKING HATE the vocals on that track), I can't call this album better than that one.

One of the only albums I've ever gotten that trifecta with. This is a very solid album that's reminiscent of early '80s JP if they had more of a USPM slant to their sound, were a tad heavier, and had (for the most part, there are some outliers like the title track and Star Pilot here) Christian lyrics.
