Not just the Hendrix thing but also his use of atonality and chromaticism that he got from being really into Snakefinger at the time.
Californication onwards he was still dipping into the Hendrix pot a bit but we basically never saw any of the weird shrill funk-skronk stuff like Sir Psycho Sexy's chorus or the gooey screechy fills on Naked In The Rain.
People never ever seem to talk about the weirder bits of his guitar playing and hyperfocus on the melodic stuff and I never really got why, it was so fucking cool and unique.
