TVotR's records have always left me kind of "meh" but I saw the live a few years ago w/ Dirtbombs opening up and both bands were freaking amazing. Definitely worth seeing live.

Yeah man, lots of artists I can find maybe one or two songs where a live version kills the album recording but for some reason TVotR is like their mojo just can’t be captured in the studio at all or something
Good one, I had to go back and listen to the album track again after and I gotta agree with you it hits harder. The live version somehow feels more timeless without the 80s production

I still like their first few albums, was not into Nine Types of Light. They are like a lot of experimental rock bands, you either like their schtick or you don't
