Apart from some insufferable leftie shit related race/sex stuff, Waters is somebody I really respect. He's vehemently anti-war even when it's unpopular (particularly with Ukraine and WWII) and he's completely uncompromising on his commitment to free speech, expression, and artistry. Love him or hate him, he's principled and moral. He sort of reminds me of Miyazaki in that regard given they're from the same generation.
Also, the art he did make was fantastic. Floyd's run under him has very few parallels in rock (if any) and The Wall's film adaptation is undisputably the best rock (and arguably music) movie ever made.

Pink Floyd has always given very theatrical performances and The Wall features an entire act where the main character hallucinates that he's a Nazi dictator, so it would be weird if that part of the concert didn't reference the lyrics in its props or imagery.

Because by the literal definition of the word, they are. Like I said, he's a bit tankieish overall and I definitely don't agree with him, but it's undeniably consistent and principled. After all, he thinks intervention in WWII was unjust. He's simply a militant, uncompromising pacifist.
