Nick cave and the smiths are two of the most overrated "post punk" acts of all time but I'll grant nick occasionally has some intrigue in him

His 80's catalog Is great, some of 90's are nice and then It's just boring or have painfully overproduced or sterile mixing. I think he lost It when he stopped working with someone like Harvey, Blixa and Kid Congo. Wydler and Casey are cool, but they're total team-players who prefer to just play an instrument instead of fucking around with Cave.

Anyway I prefer The Triffids among the Aussie bands.
