Are you a playlist enjoyer or an album enjoyer? Why?
You can only choose one

Albums. They’re basically premade playlists. If I’m sad I can listen to a sad album, no hassle, but if I had to make a sad playlist I would have to curate the songs and even then it wouldn’t be perfect. Besides, I don’t know a situation where I would be listening to music for more than 1-2 hours at a time in my day to day life, so an album isn’t really too short or anything.

Agreed, but I also love the coherence of an album.
The artist puts you in their world for 1-2 hours. Every song transitions perfectly and it's like a rollercoaster. I find myself enjoying music when I listen to albums far more than listening to playlists. Especially on a buildup to the climax of the album.
On a playlist you could just shuffle through to the best song of the album, but when you're listening to an album in whole, it's a buildup to that song.
It's kino and gives me goosebumps everytime.

What about a playlist of albums OP?

What the fuck does that mean? Do you listen to one song and don't listen to music for another hour?

No. I listen to multiple songs consecutively. I listen to albums too (not multiple albums consecutively), but not necessarily to albums.

Ah, I see. So not playlist persay, but just songs you want to listen to. I can respect that, as listening to only albums any time you wanted to listen to music would kill any desire to listen to music ever.

The correct thing to do is to listen to a song, and never listen to it again, no matter how much you liked it, there are hundreds of thousands of other (bad) songs you should be listening to, so you won't ever have the time to revisit it.
Anonymous No.127748093 [Report]
Definitely albums because they're designed to evoke particular emotions or convey particular ideas. A playlist just isn't going to be as cohesive.
>techno
That's one exception. Techno works best in a set but, again, it's curated and mixed by a pro and not just a playlist.

Cringe, return to reddit, commit self harm

Playlist for sure.
Life is too busy to sit down and appreciate an album to its fullest. Playlists keep it moving.

I'm just joking I listen to albums too, but it's a bit of a cock tease because I don't always have a whole hour to sit down and listen to a long album

Same. I listen on a song-by-song basis when I have limited time.
I just wish normies would start listening to albums more. I know a person who "listens" to albums by putting them on shuffle first and skipping the songs they don't like.

albums though i try to design my own playlists from time to time, i had an awesome greatest songs of all time list that had like 1000 songs but I lose it, now I want to remake it but it required so much time and energy it'd be a serious loss at this stage in my life

Yes. Playlists are even pointless to me. It doesn't make sense (in my case) to listen to the same song orders over and over again. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of music playlists. But I only use them to save and access the songs, not to listen to them in an order. That's why they are a complete mess, heh.

im not creative enough to think of playlists and im too lazy to put the effort into creating them

that said i if i dont want to listen to an album ill just listen to a song by looking it up on soundcloud or something
Anonymous No.127749137 [Report]
The problem with albums and playlists is that they are restricted in their songs and the order of them. If you're sad, like >>127747855 and >>127748415 mentioned, you can still listen to sad songs of your choice in the order that you prefer in the moment, which is not possible with albums and playlists unless they match exactly with your will.

Albums, cause I like boomer music, and they used albums, and believed in the LP format

Shuffle enjoyer. When I listen to albums for the first few times to decide which songs I like I listen to them in full. I have playlists for certain moods too but I put them on shuffle as well. Most of the time I just import the whole directory and shuffle, tho.

More like curated selection by the artist who intends their art to be listened to in that way.
