That's literally what she's doing. Check the pics. She wears parachute clothes to obscure all her curves. She prefers less or no make-up or at least used to. There's a talk she did with Mike where he says how she secided not to sell the music by being sexy like so many others do, but by the merit of her singing and performance... which ironically makes her more appealing.
