What musical instrument does he play that makes him so qualified to critique music?
Anonymous No.127786379 >>127786400
how many books on critic theory have you read that makes you qualified to judge his criticism?

It's crazy when you actually listen to real composers on youtube breakdown music you like. Makes you realize just how retarded he is.
>dood it's like sonically interesting n sheit
Vs
>Hmm, very interesting, I noticed the artist is using hockets here.
>I really like their use of x scale and their production techniques.

>This is awful. The terrible display of poor musicianship demonstrates a serious lack of critical understanding of what makes music good and what doesnโ€™t. Itโ€™s exactly the kind of music youโ€™d expect to hear from a fraud who wants to fit in with the indie and experimental music crowd but truthfully has no clue about anything when it comes to the value of art. Absolute garbage. Avoid.

The critique is universally boomer activity. It is only possible in the post-WWII abundance era where you can get a job out of talking about things which already aren't necessary for survival. It's the Roger Eberts and the Christgaus which paved the way. NTA but Not to mention turning the question back on him doesn't make your case any better, if anything it proves his point more

Just because a bunch of gullible pretentious twats need someone to form opinions for them, and a cult-like agreement on which albums are the ones you must give a 10/10 to (in order to appear "well versed") or give money to a piper of conceited fools, that doesn't mean that piper is qualified to criticize things, or has any abilities, other than knowing how to form a fanbase out of obnoxious hiveminded dregs.

Can someone already go schizo and kill this ugly fuck so I can stop seeing his goblino face each time I come to this board?
What is even the point of having music critic? It makes sense for video games in this day and age because, majority of games are overpriced as fuck now, yet they are shit. It makes sense to have reviewer there as such because you literally have to buy the product to "judge it for yourself," and by the time you can properly judge it, you can't even refund it. Making it waste of money for you that could've been spent literally anywhere else.
However, music? Music in 2025? You can literally listen to that shit FOR FREE and judge it for YOURSELF! Why do faggots like Shitano even exist, are given such huge platforms, and basically money for doing NOTHING OF VALUE!? Actually, I changed my mind. Don't kill this nigger, kill every faggot who unironically listens to the likes of this nigger because they lack their own ears, and their own mind to judge anything themselves. Fucking retard generation.

We have evolved far past survival necessity, and half these channels are zoomers, Roger Ebert is dead. Heck people are even creating AI slop lore channels now. Bitches on OF make more than most men, the job market is worse than ever. I should have disregarded your input solely for saying "NTA".

>>127791893
Viewers still have autonomy to watch the critic of their choice, when poor opinions are made, they are usually grilled on it by their very own viewers, spawning new critics. There are now critics of critics. I never claimed the piper is qualified to critique things, stop projecting, your diction doesn't diminish your inability to read. My initial claim was simply that you can actually make a living critiquing art, and you have not disproven that.

shame that as a musician himself, he has to completely dumb down his reviews and make them entirely emotional with buzzwords crammed in every space possible to engage his imbecilic viewers, and to help him gain broader audience (casuals) instead of producing content with more depth and understanding. probably has something to do with the fact that most of his fanbase is comprised of raptards who need to see someone talk about "vibe" and if something is "cap", yo, instead of appealing to other musicians, i.e. the actual music appreciators of the world, but I guess that's the compromise that has to be met in order to turn youtube into a career.

Decent arrangement though obviously not quite accurate. A lot of Elverum's tunes are deceptively difficult due to all the multi-tracking.
