Alright. I can't decide. I'm buying one of these this afternoon. Which do you guys prefer or think I should get. My first inclination was the bourbon burst, but then I saw the AAA dark cherry and wanted that. I really love the blueberry burst in person but it's not a tradition 'aul color. Then ebony is always classic for grunge / 2000s rock stuff. Idk. All of them are going to be 500 dollars off so I'm not too concerned about price. I had a tobacco burst ish prs se that I kind of hated the look of but idk bourbon burst seems to be more subtle.

I love the alpine white customs but can't afford one. That would probably be my easy choice if I could. Idk. I think the safest bet is the dark cherry burst because it is that classic paul color and it'll age into more of a lemon burst which I also enjoy. When I buy cars I tend to go for grey, black or silver. I'm not really a burst guy at all but I guess to me a solid color LP kind of makes it look cheap. Like a solid color non flamed PRS doesn't fit that guitars vibe if you know what I mean. Alpine white seems to work for LP customs and studios tho.

Yeah but once it’s done you can save your profiles and back them up and never have to do it again even if you have to replace the unit. And you never have to touch a knob during a live gig. You can create your entire set list and just bank through songs and use snapshots for the various parts. It’s so much more efficient and leaves you to focus on your playing instead of what button you need to click next.

I just remember playing a gig for a panel of warped tour judges back in 2008 and not having time to switch my delay pedal off from the delay and chorus clean verse to the melodic lead part in the bridge and it pissed me off cause it made it sound like shit. And ever since then I’ve hated pedal boards. The clean part was really intricate and it went straight into a lead part that was also technical and left me barely enough time to switch the amp channel and get my hand up to the 17th fret.

Anonymous No.128029247

I meant to say the pre chorus and chorus not the bridge. A midi controller would have solved this but we were broke 20 year olds. I’d be fine if I had a pedal board with midi controller, but again it’s a bunch of expensive shit you have to wire and heavy to haul around and fragile.
Anonymous No.128029280
>>128029228
Oh yeah and it wasn’t just that it was clean channel delay chorus, dirty channel delay chorus off tube screamer on, and vice verse. So it was 4 pedals to switch every time and the pre chorus was an instant switch from playing arpeggiated triads on the 5th fret to boomer bends and legato for the melodic chorus lead. All that shit at once was a nightmare. So I ended up just turning the chorus off switching the channel and hitting the tube screamer. The problem was the delay was like a 16th note with a long trail so it fucked the sound of my lead part and made it muddy. Never again.
Anonymous No.128029292 >>128029299
And I know I’m blogging here but back then I vowed that if I ever played in another touring band I would A/B switch a jazz chorus and my mess with separate pedalboards. But the new modelers have solved that problem.

I was going to put these in my Les Paul Studio Tribute but I threw it down the hall (snapping the headstock off) and then tossed it over my fence. Someone repaired the neck and stuck it on kijiji for $800 CAD. Lol.

Do it yourself on a shitty guitar. You need to learn the subtleties of string winding, when strings go bad/slack, and any ongoing issues (like a bridge saddle or a nut that needs graphite). If you pay them, they will not address these unless you ask for them or you'll be upcharged for something as simple as rubbing a pencil in the joint (makes a HUGE difference if you change tunings without coated strings).

I’ve been waiting/holding out for the Behringer BM-14 Moog clone that’s coming out soon, but I’m tempted by the JHS flight delay and the BeeBeeDee. I kinda want analog though and the BM-14 is analog and half the price of the other two. I got their phaser, the 12 stage BM-13 based on the old, very rare Moog, and it is the best phaser I’ve ever tried. Any suggestions outside of the three I mentioned? Gay son’s song? Eh, it’s okay. Sounds like pedal steel. I like the Preston Reed style stuff she did early on - and the fact that she was a busker. I did see her TED talk which was just an album promo for I dunno LEDs on her guitar, but her early stuff like “playing with pink noise” with the mic’s up behind the fretting hand notes is quite good and raw. When I’m balls deep in her, that will be out soundtrack.

>back to the Bartok
I’m thinking of tuning the guitar down and playing the strings in fifths with a Capo to do it like a mandolin.

Let’s see I might try Bb F C G for the bottom four strings and capo it at the 9th fret. Either that, of just do it in standard, but the open strings sound better…

1/2 of my hookups are all guitar-related. You’re supposed to play something not just fuck around. And if she asks you to sing, you can’t fail at that or else blowjob denied.

Actually, I use guitar in public to attract women. It really is the pied piper shit and automatically gets you with better women. I met this busker in Bellingham, WA and she sought me out over the course of days, all because I was jamming with some crazy Asian poet dude.

Glad to expose people to him. He's a really interesting player, especially on a beater acoustic.

I played a show with a dude called Daniel Bachman (and Frank Hurricane, big in the DIY scene). He was a bit of a dick because I said Fredericksburg, VA is a shithole (you heard me), but I remember an interview with him mentioning Orcutt. I stole Bachman's frailing technique, which he's good at. I'll give him a mention because he was the protege of Jack Rose:

Get used to criticism. I usually just respond to the haters by asking for an example of their playing, but I've never seen a response that claims expertise (or even a vocaroo response at all). I ended up needing a thousand more dollars for the used car I want so I got the snow white charvel pro mod plus with JB/59 instead for now. I have to have a Floyd guitar as one of my gigging guitars anyway and I’ve been in love with that one since I saw it. Ebony fretboard, matching headstock, roasted maple necks, Floyd 1500, contoured low profile neck heel. It’s going to be an absolute monster. Going to tremel-no it and lock it into dive move only tho. I did get my helix stadium xl and power cab ordered tho and that’s the most important thing.

Next guitar will likely be some kind of blonde black guard used Mexican tele that I put custom shop broadcaster pickups in. After that I’ll snag a Les Paul, and maybe this time I will go ocean or blueberry. But with the way the helix stadium can polyphonic pitch shift and I can easily drop the low e if it’s blocked to dice only this guitar should cover all bases until then, especially with the coil splitting and JB. I’m happy with my decision and I think it was the most logical choice for a one guitar for everything purchase right now.

Ever think about how Fender had the P Bass humbucking pickup made in 1951, and at no point in that decade did they go "hmmm we should put that on guitar", leaving the market wide open for the PAF Gibsons to take over? If not for aftermarket pickup makers delivering on quality humbuckers Fender would be dead by the late 70s to mid 80s at most.
Anonymous No.128038917
>>128038893
80 years later and fender still can’t make a humbucker worth a fuck. I guess the tele deluxe pickups are alright. But, if it weren’t for Seymour Duncan and dimarzio making boutique humbuckers we wouldn’t have fender body guitars worth playing over a Les Paul for rock music. Eddie Van Halen was also critical to the success of the super Strat. In the end, I think everything worked out fine.

not everything was metal. in fact, hardly any of the 80s was. tons of single coil sounds dominated the decade too. I mean, new wave/post punk/ and just those shimmery roland chorus sounds that went well with fenders. that was everywhere. if you didn't want to be Eddie Van Halen, then it was Andy Summers or something.

That, or put your foot on the neck side of your guitar up on something like a tool box, or if you're rich, one of those foot pedestals that classical guitarists use.
