It's bad. Even by non-/pol/ standards Birmingham has a very bad reputation here. Soms of the largest familys in the country come from there with Pakistani and Afghani clans numbering in the hundreds of relatives. They run their own buisnesses and highstreets and employ, house and assist only relatives of the immediate clan or other friendly familys they do not have blood feuds with. Throw in the fact that Birmingham is the largest city by juristiction in Europe, yes, the entirety of Europe, and what you have is an unofficial enclave of Middle Eastern communities. It's all self-contained, even down to food supply as these familys run their own whole salers which their shops then buy from. The saving grace is that they self-segregate, but the issue is trying to pass through their communities. Honor killings are big problem too and police often ask the clan elders to self-enforce to avoid getting involved. They arn't religious though, that's the one thing american media gets wrong. The vast majority of them are secular and they are actually running into serious problems with their younger generations becoming very very gay and liberalized. Not joking.
