Why not? You can rate anything involving music.
You can prefer the sounds or uses of some instruments over others. I don't see what'd be wrong with ranking or rating them.

From the beginning, I've always been more into electronic than rock music

I enjoy a number of artists labelled rock but I've never been too into stadium rock and mainly listen to classical now
