Because people were starting to get big hifi systems (better than most modern ones simply because of size) while all the competing home entertainment was still shit.

It's, by no exaggeration, the best boomer rock album ever made

It was really creative and unique for its time and experimented a little bit, but also had catchy songs and has some of the most pristine production of all time. It just hit all the boxes. As opposed to Animals or Wish You Were Here which may be more momentous musical achievements but are not as accessible to a generic/casual audience.
