This is how you know someone spent all of 10 mins listening to slayer. There is a distinct difference between their debut and haunting the chapel, another distinct difference between that and hell awaits / reign in blood, then another distinct difference for south of heaven and seasons and yet another distinct difference to the shit they put out after that.

Also if you think all the songs on hell awaits / reign in blood sound the same you just don't have an ear for metal.

Hard disagree. The album peaks with Altar of Sacrifice / Jesus Saves imo. Angel of Death and Raining Blood weren't even the singles. Criminally Insane and Postmortem were. For me its AoS / JS > AoD > Postmortem > Raining > CI > the rest.

Slayer were just too focused on being "extreme" to try something new. Well, except for the songs where Hanneman layered multiple steel-string acoustic guitar tracks underneath the more prominent electric guitar tracks to beef them up slightly but mostly to lend the overall sound that barely audible ghostly shimmering quality that they don't get enough credit for because FUCKIN' SLAYER tends to overpower the musical conversation when it comes to Slayer (rightly so)

I wish. They cucked out HARD after reign in blood. South of heaven and everything that came after it fucking sucked and was extremely boring and gay. I’d even argue reign in blood is a bit overrated, parts of it are borderline homeboyish. Sounds like Tom is fucking rapping at points, there’s a reason the canoes, hoagie, and paninis douches all liked it. Real fans know He’ll Awaits was there best album, but the haunting the chapel EP was the actual peak of there music, it’s kinda like with Death. Every metalist worth his salt knows this.
