Why are these so fragile
Why are CDs such fragile pieces of shit?
I thought they were supposed to be more durable than vinyl.
My rare album on CD is skipping before Iโ€™ve even played it 10 times. WTF.

>rare cd
>most likely old as shit
>doesn't back it up to wav/flac as soon as he gets it
>complains about old tech being fragile and blaming it instead of himself for being clumsy with it
This is either ragebait or you just ruined your only chance of having high quality rips of a rare album you like. Good going, faggot.

That was the psyop, tell you it's more durable than vinyl so you treat it like garbage and scratch it then need to buy a new one. They marketed these as portable and had us stack them up and put them in wallet book things and throw them around in our car with scratchy slot loader things. Live and learn zoomer. Keep your cd and it's fragile jewel case on the shelf and carefully take the cd out by the edges and only put it in tray loading devices.

Polish the plastic surface on the bottom with a light abrasive like a magic eraser and a microfibre cloth. CDs are quite durable, they can recover from light damage

Vinyl doesnโ€™t have this problem. I have original pressings from the 60s that play perfectly.
CDs are just an objectively shit format.

>Carefully handles records to make sure they stay pristine
>Throws around CDs in the back of his car which fucks them up
>Touts vinyl as the best and most resilient format
Retardation has never been easier to attain

I don't know what the fuck you're doing then to fuck them up then. I use CDs all the time and they've stayed pristine even on the rare occurrence that I drop them.

Just be more careful, same principles as vinyl.

I always keep my CDs in their case and handle them with care.
as a result, even disks that I've bought decades ago are still in pristine conditions.
CDs don't degrade by themselves if you don't treat them badly.
>inb4 disc rot
it only affects a limited number of albums manufactured in some factories back in the '80s, and the problem has been fixed since then. 99,9% of all the CDs ever sold are safe.

They are. This is, like, scientific fact.

If you routinely encounter skipping on discs with no visible issues, it's more likely the laser on your CD player fucking up than the discs being damaged. A/B test with another CD player
