He reminds me more of Iggy Pop than the fag from Clap Your Hands

Pic related is a chart proving I have good taste. I think the two Geese albums and Cameron Winter's solo are all strong 5s or 6s and have a handful of great songs across them.

This is kind of a weird twist in zoomies' culture, because remember they hated chord-bending and blues, it sounded too boomerish and dadrock to them

But now the best band they spawned is exactly that... It hearkens back to the Stones, Nina Simone, Doobie Brothers, Tom Waits... all the stuff they would consider ancient and cartoonishly lame.

Paradoxically they embrace that thing that is most unlike their declared likings.. authenticity instead of two levels of meta-irony.. passion instead of larping

The Stones sound was more on the first album. This one sounds more like a continuation of the borecore 2010s post punk sound.

I get Radiohead more than anything out of Getting Killed.

No it's much more acoustic and the crescendo is typical of gospel... not punkish buzzsaw riffage or angst-ridden angular guitar licks

Not quite. I get why you say that, because the vocals have a similar delivery in that shouted/whined style

But Radiohead is not so rhythmically loose and it lacks this gospel feel that this music has. Sometimes the music on this album even sounds like some tribal shit.. with sparse drums that overlap each other and crescendos that lead to these shouted incantations

But unlike Radiohead there's some cathartic positive release here.. it lacks that neurotic-android vibe that is R's signature sound

>normies and zoomers will literally listen to anything.
Correct, except it also applies to more than those two groups. Never been more aware of how vacant and easily manipulated people are, especially in the case of abject trash like Geese. Doesn't matter how mediocre something is. If it's pushed by the right media and influencers, it's going to get exactly the reaction they want out of these sad drones.

you're being way too generous. they sound like Jet covering Coldplay.

I like the Taxes song, but I'm a zoomie. And I also like the 100 horses song, but ditto.

2122 is a good song. Ive yet to hear any other one by them that's comparable. Mostly its just Strokes worship, but im glad were getting back in the right direction

t. Only knows one indie rock band

Nah Strokes is just one influence among several
They're not really reducible to one single ingredient
You can hear a bit of Stones, Tom Waits, heck even Beefheart, Nina Simone, Strokes, or Talking Heads in terms of syncopated rhythms and shouted vocal phrasing

Instrumentally they sound nothing like the Strokes. And vocally only occasionally here and there

The Strokes are a mainstream rock band. don't know how, when, or where this revisionism happened.

Indie rock is a genre now, just like alternative rock. The strokes brand of Garage Rock Revival pretty much derives from indie rock

nice save anon… the strokes are one of the most popular rock bands of this century though. only the white stripes could compete.

>Indie rock is a genre now
2020s zoomerbrained nonsense. in 2001 it was not just a genre.
>Garage Rock Revival pretty much derives from indie rock
if you're arguing that The Strokes have some sort of direct lineage from something like Estrus Records bands, then you're still wrong.

Youre being willfully ignorant. Genre labels are regularly given in hindsight, and I didn't invent the garage rock Revival term. Its just what people call bands like The Strokes, the White Stripes, The Hives, and Jet
