Swedish black metal has occult gnostic and Germanic pagan elements. French black metal is social and political either more on the right or on the left, or both, but never neutral. Also in terms of music, Swedish black metal is more experimental and French black metal is like circus music as they say...
That's why I make a distinction. German black metal is also different, Finnish black metal is different, USBM is different, etc.
>use one spot for something good.
No. Swedish and French black metal deserve their own spot. All the other scenes suck. That's also why I put speed-thrash on top because it's the most perfect most metal sub-sub-genre ever

I'm sure you could come up with those kind of distinctions between speed/death/slam/screamo, etc. too. So it doesn't really make a lot of sense to be autistic about black metal, but not those genres.

Yes! His Preludes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCqbF96b30A) are fantastic, very pure and expressive.
My favorite composer from that era would be Ravel. His only string quartet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieRQyyPowH0) is pure gold.
If you're interested in orchestration I do recommend this video series:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38lgGayPkiI
which studies the differences between the piano version of Une barque sur l'océan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O5wMctUSAM&list=RD5O5wMctUSAM) and the orchestral arrangement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1aISfH5Yus&list=RDg1aISfH5Yus).
I also like Debussy, Sibelius, Bax, Elgar, Bartók etc.

There’s too many genres. It’s in need of distillation and treating sub genres as such. For example Punk is a genre and all other forms of punk are sub genres, it’s like cats there’s cats and then there’s varieties and breeds of cats there’s big cats and so on but they’re all cats so if you like cats you like cats, you can say you only like one kind of cat that’s fine it’s weird but ok whatever it’s just silly and inelegant having to list every kind of cat you know in order to express the idea that you like cats

idk, a lot of the field of entrants into mma aren't much affected by boxing (not like eg wrestlers could become pure boxers even if they wanted)
and haven't the current top dogs of boxing been at it for decades now so whatever influx of interest didn't make much difference yet outside of celebrity freakshow fights

i think if the wrestlers and bjj guys knew how to box well they'd go and box.
instead you get:
1. good wrestler with terrible boxing who lays on guys and occasionally get a stoppage by exhausting the other dude and lighting touching them till the ref stops it
2. good wrestler who can't box who'll never move up the ladder because no one wants to see that shit
3. good bjj guy who gets completely destroyed by an average fighter in any other discipline, who will also never move up the ladder because he keeps turtling on his back and inviting the other guy to lay on top him like it's some strange homosexual ritual
4. good bjj fighter with average box... lmao that doesn't exist and never has
