School of Rock
/mu/ wants to attempt to "revive rock" or contribute to it's revival in some shape. So what does /mu/ think about those School of Rock businesses popping around some American cities?

No i'm not a School of Rock corporate shill or a statistics worker. I'm genuinely curious. I never been inside one but I seen them from outside.

Can this practice "Save Rock?"
even a: "lol, lmao even"
response suffices dont worry I understand lul

my sister does this and i went to one of their shows, half was 12 years olds playing Imagine Dragons and then some teenagers playing Master of Puppets and what not. From what she's told me it's the teachers that choose the music and it all feels very controlled. I think kids are better off starting a mediocre band with their friends than doing the same thing every other student of the school is doing.

Some kids don't have any space to play music.

the school could be good for instrumentation instruction and basic theory and stuff but yeah not allowing the kids creative control is a bit shit. I agree the best thing to do is get a couple of friends and start playing in the garage or wherever you can, I think this generation they don’t just jump into things DIY they feel the need to for example have a full drum kit to start out with when all you actually need is a couple of sticks and a garbage can

there is something i feel uneasy about turning rock into a capitalistic business the churns out bands from the factory line.

But i have never heard of a band that was trained at "le rock school" that was famous or successful.

It’s clearly a scam and a grift. But like I said there might be something useful from it, but it alone isn’t going to work I don’t think. At least it’s nice of the parents to take the time and spend the money

I think it can work developing basic skills kids might use later on. its not a bad extra curricular ability to develop for fun. Problem is the cost I wonder how much they charge, I'm gonna do some research.

Here’s two people one could be on acoustic guitar the other on bongos and you could easily replace the drummer with a machine anyway this is what can be played in any bedroom won’t bother anyone

Yeah cool, first song we did was enter sandman and imagine me as a 15yo influenced by Dave Vanian and the guy from the time warp song on rocky horror picture show. It’s a great memory. That’s really why I’m sharing it’s to inspire just get it happening with whatever you have it’s a fucking blast

guitar and vocals will always be the combo anyone can do even if you are Low IQ. And nothing beats learning at home you pay more attention to what you are doing.

Anyway I checked the prices of School of Rock and I find them insanely high. It's for rich gated burbs kids for sure.
