At last I truly see, this band was better than most of those underground post punk bands!

Three elite musicians made a good band? No way!

That's because Sting could write songs

police are so fucking overrated, unironically 80% of the other "post punk" or new wave adjacent bands were better than them. They were glorified pop music that was always missing something almost every song. Should've wrote more shit like Mother. Couldn't hum one guitar riff they did to save my life or think of one vocal part that piqued my interest though obviously I remember those few hits. I know Synchronicity the most so forgive me if Zenyatta Mondatta is the masterpiece

OK. Name 10 example...

I only cared about Synchronicity.

Does Sting have any solo work that's even remotely as interesting as The Rhythmatist? I'm coming to the realization that Sting should have listened to Stewart and Andy more.

Side B of Zenyatta is a notable downgrade from Side A and prevents it from being their best. Reggatta and Synchronicity are their most cohesive albums, while Ghost is their least.

…and Andy and Stewart could veto Sting when he was being too jazzy and boring.

You are right about Zenyatta Mondatta being the masterpiece, but I have no clue how you don’t remember their riffs. That main Bring On The Night Riff is incredibly beautiful

Side B of Zenyatta is only a downgrade from Side A because Side A is perfect. Zenyatta, Reggatta, and Synchronicity are all 9/10s and worthy of the masterpiece label. Ghost has grown on me, but it’s definitely a step down from the surrounding albums. Men at Work’s Business as Usual is the album the Police were trying to make on Zenyatta: the horns and synths are blended far better with that unique Zenyatta Mondatta “sound” on Business as Usual compared to Ghost.

The drums are what I always think of most, Copeland was fucking based.

*Men at Work’s Business as Usual is the album the Police were trying to make AFTER Zenyatta

>virtuoso jazz-versed drummer
>prog guitarist with a hold on cool pedals and effects
>creative bassist and singer with pop sensibilities
not only they're all great musicians, it's a perfect and very unique match for pop rock
