When I think of Kpop top visuals I think of Wonyoung, Karina, Irene, Tzuyu, Sana, and of course Jisoo who might as well be the blueprint of Korean Beauty Standards. So imagine my shock when I started seeing her being rated as one of the top visuals, the prettiest in her group, AND the crazy amount of fanboys simping over her… until it all finally clicked.
She’s so popular among guys BECAUSE of how average she is in comparison to the other goddess-like beauties in Kpop. Chaewon looks approachable and not intimidating, which is something guys really find appealing in a girl.
They don’t have high standards because they want a girl that’s not out of their league, and even doe they are not actually ever going to date her, in their minds it seems a lot more possible because of how average she looks. Maybe it’s their ego or maybe it’s their lack of self esteem, but it’s the only explanation that makes sense. I don’t think her talent or personality is so great that she stands out in comparison to MUCH prettier idols who are just as or even more talented and also have likable personalities.
