No one in the western world lives an interesting enough life to be able to write music like this anymore.

I think it’s more so that the world around him was much more interesting and dynamic back then. Before globalism made everywhere look the same.

>Before globalism made everywhere look the same.
Would you accept a return to Tom Wait's era when crime rates were higher and people in general were bigger party animals than they are today? You want a more interesting world, but do you want the consequences of such? For what it's worth, I wouldn't mind a return to this era, I think scelerophobia has turned the world into a bunch of bitchy, shut-in retards who are barely functional in the real world and get triggered and flock to social media at even the slightest hint of discomfort, but is this what you want? I only ask this question because there's a lot of overlap with people who use the term "globalism" and people who are obsessing over these things

You could put someone on a "media diet" of all the same shit Tom Waits read and listened to, but you won't get Tom Waits. Je ne sais quoi.

Pierre Menard tried something like this (in literature) and it actually worked.

in that time when people smoked everywhere and thought we would all die in World War III and had far less technology and a lot of things now taken for granted. and when music could only be heard on the radio or by buying an expensive album that probably had 2 good songs and 8 filler tracks.
