are PRS worth the price, or is like the iPhone where I can get the same quality in other brands for less money?

you could just a cheap se. if you’re worrying about value for the money at the $500 range you might not have much room for being discriminatory. are pse guitars better than an equivalent fender/gibson? no they sound different because of the scale length and where the pickups are located

TL:DW for anything that isn't ceramic, it doesn't matter if you doing anything that's even mildly high-gain, it looks like his harley benton (abt 260$) kept pace with the PRS in the blind tests he did at the guitarist youtuber meetup.
I have a crap EART with PAF clones and I actually like it's tone just as much as my MiJ les paul with SD jd/sh's in it fwiw, despite it being 1/3rd the price.

[... Scene...]
The GC (guitar center) manager steps into the mans office. It's downtown, dark room. Blinds drawn. He steps carefully to the seat. "We got people coming in and they say the guitars aren't tuned. No free picks. Cables too short, or none at all. We got families coming in and you let them down? What are we gonna do about this? Say you get off your shift and Johnny from the old neighborhood is having car trouble. It gets dark earlier now... Say someone broke the lights in the parking lot. Real dark. Pitch black. Maybe you fall funny and Johnny has to bring you to the hospital, yeah? He's a nice guy after all. Or you could tune the fucking guitars every couple hours. You got it?".
He nodded, knowing the man was right...
---
The gc manager leaves and the Sweetwater rep pulls off his rubber mask of the GC regional manager. "That will rattle his cage heh heh heh". He carefully unwraps his 8 ball and gets to it.

Maybe the high end ones but the budget line is going to be on par with the asiatic made guitars like Squier and Standard Fenders. If I’m spending more than $1500 on a guitar in this year of our lord 2025, it’s going to be made by nimble little Japanese fingers with uncanny Japanese precision you just don’t get on American (Mexican) models these days.

Yes. You get what you pay for, core series PRS go through dozens of quality control stages and are built in America. I have several and very few of my other guitars match the fit, finish, rock solid stability, sound and playability of my PRS, the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is my Ibanez J Custom. Keep in mind I do not buy garbage and all of my guitars are excellent, the PRS are just one notch above. You don't need a guitar like that to enjoy playing guitar or to make music, and you're not compromising "tone" by not having a PRS, but you're paying for peace of mind and things like properly cut nuts and properly sanded and radiused fingerboards and properly crowned frets, it's very rare that a core series PRS has issues with any of these plus they look and sound great.
>>128361695
I wouldn't take advice from anyone who looks, sounds and acts like this fat fucking pig. Glenn Fricker needs a shower, a haircut and about a year's worth of hard labour in Auschwitz before I care about what he says, not because his appearance is an affront to my visual sensibilities (though it is) but because this motherfucker doesn't even have the dignity to make himself look vaguely human in form at the same time as he's telling people to buy and play the made in Asia shit tier garbage poverty guitars like there's no difference (there is, large time). Have some pride in yourself and just save up for a few months longer to get a real Fender, Gibson or PRS and stop coping.
>>128361714
Unfortunately this, the poors will be out in defence saying PRS is overrated, etc. In some ways they are, these days you can get a lot of guitar for a lot less money. On the other hand, if you can comfortably afford to pay for quality, don't be afraid to do so. They're great. Nothing bad to say about 'em except I wish they'd bring back the Custom 22 and I wish they'd add hardtail options to the 24 and 22.

I jam out in the basement with my headphones before work while the wife and kids are sleeping upstairs. Highly recommended.
I have a question: when I create a chord progression & strumming pattern on guitar do all other instruments in the song follow along and build off of that or do they do their own thing?

Generally they follow that
You've created the harmony and chord progression that is the skeleton of the song, everyone follows/builds off that
>>128363315
doing their own thing almost never happens. even when you have polyrhythms and counterpoint melodies or even something like jazz where it seems like everyone is in their own world they are still listening and working within the confines of the original rhythm and harmony. this is why it’s important to practice your timing and not have a meltie when someone plays something other than a quarter note
>>128363354
>>128363418
I still don't understand the difference between melody and harmony but oh well.
Aside from that, say I want a solo from a saxophone before the acoustic comes in - the sax player would still follow what I've created since I would've played it for him?
Also, what other instruments are used to build the chord structure of a song besides guitar and piano?

shew man that’s a lot of deep questions. think of harmony as everything in the background, chords, chord progressions etc. melody is just kind of what’s happening on top of it in the foreground like vocals solos etc. I don’t know what you mean before the acoustic comes in, like the saxophone by himself and nothing in the background or what? but yeah typically he’s going to play a collection of notes that generally fit the key of the song. they don’t all have to be notes in the key that’s how you create tension. But I highly recommend reading into the difference between a key center and a tonal center. the bass is actually the largest contributor to the harmony than any other instrument. You could also consider the piano because it can play in the same register but it’s essentially just filling the role of the bass. the bass is creating the fundamental harmony, all the chords on piano and guitar are just voicing it. that’s why bass players have to be a lot better than everyone else because if they fuck up you’ll not only hear it but feel it

doesn’t matter. Look up tonal center. I can imply a C chord by soloing in a C-centered scale as long as I occasionally resolve on the C. when a really good guitar solo hits a funky note and you feel a big emotion attached to it that’s because it changed the tonal center (that’s not always true but hitting a funky note briefly isn’t very impactful)

Melody is why we meme that rap isn't music. None or very little melodies in the entire genre, and when it does exists, it's a sample of a better song.
I would go further and say a lot of metal doesn't have melodies either. Old school heavy metal did, Thrash and groove metal did most of the time too. After that, it's all shit and no better than rap. Drummers dominate the genre and modern metal guitarists are cucks to the drummer.

I'd feel less insecure about those desu. I play rock and folky stuff. I'm not Segovia. I wish I was. I don't even know how to read music. I just sort of fake my way playing stuff that kind of sounds classical. Or kind of Arab like. It felt really good though. Maybe I'll get a cheaper nylon string.

depends. when I practice composing I just go entirely on what I feel and that usually ends up changing the tonal center once or twice. sometimes just to minor but in the same key. that’s the secret to modes that YouTubers don’t understand. when they play all the modes back to back you’re like wow that’s the same scale but it just starts one degree higher. the magic is when you resolve on the new scale degree and change the tonal center during the solo. you can totally stay on the 1 for your entire solo and it will work, but resolving is kind of like putting a period on a musical phrase so you can start a new one

also resolving isn’t the only way to change the tonal center, you can pedal on a note or just repeat it until you feel like it’s worked. hard to explain cause I’m still kind of figuring this shit out on my own but you know when you’re practicing a scale or something and you hit the wrong note and it sounds off? that’s because in your mind you’re expecting something in that key because a tonal center has been established to you.

there are no wrong notes just notes that are out of context if you play a wrong note you can make it correct with the right sequence following the note.
even the most dissonant clashing sounds can be put into perspective with the right horizontal composition.

He actually had a Les Paul Custom before the Telecaster but it was stolen, and the Telecaster he had was given to him by Jeff Beck to replace his stolen Telecaster. Then Joe Walsh sold the Les Paul he would be most famously recognized by. Technically he had a Les Paul first but he continued to use his Telecaster for a lot of lead parts in the studio.

The Copyright Act of 1976, enacted on October 19, 1976, as Public Law 94-553, established the foundational framework for current U.S. copyright law, codified in Title 17 of the United States Code.
It was a comprehensive revision of the previous copyright law, superseding the Copyright Act of 1909, and went into effect on January 1, 1978.
The Act extended copyright protection to all original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, whether published or unpublished, once they are fixed.
It granted authors a nontransferable, nonwaivable right to recapture their copyrights 35 years after their transfer, a provision designed to balance creators' rights with commercial interests.
A significant innovation of the 1976 Act was the codification of the fair use doctrine for the first time in federal law, explicitly allowing the use of copyrighted works for criticism, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research, though the defense is not limited to these purposes.
The Act also established a new term of copyright protection for new works, extending it to the life of the author plus 50 years, replacing the previous system of a fixed term with a renewal period.
For works created before 1978 but not published or registered before 1978, the standard term of protection is also life of the author plus 70 years, though Congress provided an incentive for publication by ensuring these works would not expire before 2048 if published before 2003.
The Act also addressed new technologies by granting the right to perform a sound recording by means of digital audio, a right added later by the Digital Performance Right in Sound Recordings Act of 1995.
It clarified the rights of owners of lawfully made copies or phonorecords, allowing them to sell or otherwise dispose of their possession without the copyright owner's authority, and permitted public display of a copy by projection to viewers present at the location.
The Act also established

Who cares? I refuse to participate in Jewish social credit systems and usury no matter if I’m coming out on top or not. It’s the principle. You don’t see Dave Ramsay with a boat load of credit cards trying to stack cash back shekels do you? No, because he knows they’re evil and the banks who supply them are evil. If you don’t have cash you don’t buy it, period. They want you to feel all warm and secure and think you’re “gaming the system” until you’re on your ass because laquisha got you fired and you rack up 50 grand in credit card debt floating yourself to your next job, or have a major problem with your house or whatever you can’t afford to fix. And you go ohhh I’ll just swipe my card and pay it later, boom stuck in and endless cycle of debt. No thanks. Not worth it, don’t care. Not going to convince me otherwise. Fuck Jews

Nah I'd consider one if it was half the price, especially when I mostly use the middle position these days
Yeah I’m not buying the Les Paul studio this morning because my car is now making a popping noise in the passenger front wheel / suspension area as well as the clicking and clunking noise in the driver front wheel wheel / suspension area. I am taking the car into a highly rated shop here in town at 1pm who told me they would *for sure* figure out where the noises are coming from and be able to fix them. This will be the fourth mechanic I’ve taken the car to and none of the previous ones have fixed the noise.
It’s basically a metallic clicking I hear when I’m driving on rough roads / over expansion joints in concrete. It doesn’t happen when I hit bumps or go over speed bumps / curbs. I’ve already replaced inner and outer tie rods, stabilizer bar and links, both control arms. Strut towers were replaced last year and look fine. Wheel hubs, wheel bearings and cv joints were replaced in July. I honestly have no fucking clue because everything “looks” fine underneath the car but it definitely doesn’t sound fine when I drive it. The only two possibilities I can think of are the retard who sold me the car drove it into a ditch and damaged the strut towers internally, or it’s the engine / transmission mount. But I guess we’ll see what this shop says because he told me with 100% confidence they would find the source of the noises. Hopefully it doesn’t cost me several thousand dollars to fix.

Sometimes following a strict moral code means you lose out on material things like money and status. You’re not going to convince me that I should violate that code just because I’ll get a couple shekels back from the synagogue of Satan every month.
>>128367564
>If you don’t have cash you don’t buy it, period
Holy retard. You use cash to pay off CC's before the month is over, thereby never paying interest. You don't swipe a CC unless you have the cash to pay it off immediately. You then funnel that cash-back % into a brokerage or high yield savings account where it immediately starts earning interest. In other words, I get paid to use credit cards without ever paying a cent of interest. Leave free money on the table all you want, but don't pretend to have this shit figured out, because you have an elementary understanding of it.
>dave ramsey
Proving my point. Only retards go into debt with credit, other people leverage it and use it as a supplemental wealth generator. If you already have $10mil in the bank like Ramsey, by all means follow his lead. He's so out of touch with the current state of finance its unbelievable he still has a platform. But I guess there are still enough mouth breathers out there that need to be told to stop spending more than they have.

The SE have gotten a level where you're paying 1/6 of the pro line for up to 90%+ of the quality.
Paul has realized this too which is why he has been so heavily shilling SE for the last couple of years since that's where the big profit margins are.
My suggestion is to get one of the more pricy SE's as long as Paul is still alive because the company will go to shit and turn to absolute chink shit once he kicks the bucket and "managers" take over.
American made PRS are only worth it if you masturbate to wood patterns and got money to blow, if you just want a real nice guitar get an upper echolon SE.

They're very very good bang for your buck.
Paul's right hand man has been in charge of SE for a long time and the Phil McKnight SE tour showed how this dude cares just about as much as Paul about his craft.
I would suggest not getting the cheapest of the cheap SE's but more around the $700-1000 mark is where the gems are. The McCarthy and Paul's guitar are my personal favorites. The Zach Myers signature is my favorite single cut guitar and it looks just as expensive as the multi thousand dollar models.
The thing with SE is you can get very lucky and get a veneer that looks just as nice and quilted as a five figure private stock PRS, so visually they also deliver.
Also SE get shipped to the US after being made and undergo their quality control over there, which is why they also have a reputation of generally being very well set-up right out of the box.

I don’t go to guitar center. I pay my luthier (who builds custom guitars, and is licensed as a fender and Gibson repair technician) 90 dollars once to level and dress my frets, set the neck relief and adjust the action height. File the nut for my string gauge etc. I mean he does the whole setup but I’m more than happy to pay that to have a boomer with 40 years of custom guitar building experience go through and make everything perfect. After that I’m more than capable of adjusting intonation or pickup heights or whatever else I may need to do in the future. I don’t have the experience to know when something is a cunt hair off like he does.
>>128370947
I really don’t care bro this entire discussion is annoying. You trying to force your opinions on him when you could just ignore it. How does it affect you at all if he doesn’t want to do his own setups? You seem like a control freak.
>>128370954
Ahhh that song. You’re supposed to start the open 16th notes on the upstroke and there shouldn’t be a pause in between. All the notes should be evenly spaced 16th notes with only the hammer-on not picked.
