This will be the first year in Grammy history in which three rap albums compete for Album of the Year, a byproduct, perhaps, as with Bad Bunny’s multiple noms, of the Recording Academy’s continued push to diversify its membership. (It added 3,800 new members this year, including from the Latin Recording Academy).
Lamar was also the most nominated artist at the 2025 ceremony, when he took home the Song and Record trophies for the galvanizing “Not Like Us.” GNX is his fifth consecutive album to receive an AOTY nom, but Lamar has never won Grammy’s most coveted prize.
