JP is terribly overrated. "Painkiller"'s only praised so much cause it's their only dynamic album.

Neither; it's just a very decent metal album with a few classic songs (Painkiller, One Shot at Glory), that is not really that dated at all. It is overrated, though, and there are much better metal albums that don't get the respect Painkiller gets for... reasons.

In the traditional metal department you get stuff like Anthrax's Among the Living, X Japan's Blue Blood or Danzig's Selftitled LP which are also slept on and mog Painkiller.

Maiden's discography is vastly superior and the first 7 albums are perhaps the greatest run of albums in metal or possibly popular music history, though the latter may be a stretch. Either way, yes Painkiller is still a classic album
