The newest development after gravel bikes with suspension forks: Gravel bikes with suspension forks and flat bars. I simply have to have one!

Short travel drop bar bikes make perfect sense tho
Drop bars are more ergo for riding long distances and suspension reduces fatigue

that's what the fat tires are for

I consider it absolutely indisputable that full suspension is superior to no suspension, in performance, in all instances, and it is only the retardation of most bicyclists that is slowing that realization.
None of the arguments against suspension hold water.
I have always felt more other cyclists are retarded. Most people are retarded. But recently I’ve seen several videos from allegedly well respected creators that so badly misunderstand bike geometry, how the bars interact with steering geometry, and several other topics, that my opinion has fallen even further.

If you do a google image search for "aalewis" on duckduckgo, one of the first results is a full suspension bike. Make of that what you will.

well there you have it. no need for suspension, or even really tires and a saddle.
oh wait a minute, these bikes are optimized for riding as fast as possible on a perfectly maintained surface. not even something so rough as asphalt.
nta btw

The ONLY time suspension improves performance is when riding hell for leather down twisty technical rock and tree root strewn trails by improving traction.

That's it.
In every other scenario suspension slows you down. It adds weight, saps energy and adds multiple new potential points of failure to your bicycle.

retard, its heavier than a rigid, more expensive
and you have to service it more. Having a blown out fork or especially rear suspension is annoying.
>>2053090
also retarded, suspension is nice for anything off asphalt thats not a smooth dirt path. It's not essential but you're still retarded

everybody here is retarded and can't accept that a rigid bike is nice when the trail allows for it, but suspension is also nice at the same time

Counterpoint: you are a twig and your glutes are not thick enough to serve double duty as both your engine and your suspension, so you try to cheat both the game and yourself by making your bicycle floppy and wearing diaper pants

Why don't we just put road bike gearing on mountain bikes? As far as I'm concerned road bike gearing is primarily what makes road bikes fast. Not their light weight.

Anonymous No.2054249 [Report]

If you're not riding through rough terrain no suspension will be more efficient than having it
That is provided the "lower" terrain roughness isn't such that the person physically has a hard time outputting power at the same time as staying balanced
IMO you'll ve able to go faster with suspension, even if it's mechanically less efficient sinpmy because pedaling and keeping direction+balance becomes easier
t.just rides a clapped out hardtail mtb

>the most expensive version of this bike that costs $10k still weighs almost 24 pounds
Thank you for reminding me about why I lost interest in mountain bikes, that's like BSO tier weight for a road bike. I'm not even a weight weenie but come on man. A bike should not weigh more than 20 pounds unless it's loaded up with groceries.

Hinged at the wheel, so it is separated from suspension travel.

I have a 37lb as listed stock (probably heavier because I don't fucking care) trail bike and live on a 3rd floor apartment. I can't even bench 2 plates and I have zero issues carrying the thing up and down or riding XC tracks. If that's too much bike for you to handle, maybe you should put down your purse first.
