I'm in CDL school at the moment, and need advice on making tight right turns without hitting a curb.

CDL B holder and bus driver here, but I imagine the same concepts apply regardless of the type of commercial vehicle you're driving.

Look for your pivot point in your right mirror, usually between the 2 sets of tires in the rear.

Once your pivot point hits the bend in the curve in your mirror, turn your steering wheel to the right. You will be able to see the vehicle pivot around the curb and you should be able to make your turn :)

The other Anon is right about the pivot points. That's the key to not hitting things in a turn. Make as much space as you can before you turn right and pay attention to the track your rear axles take.

Keep an eye on where your trailer is going and take as much room as you can get away with taking. When you are approaching a turn you need to plan for how much space you'll need to make the turn. Just remember that its faster to take your time than it is to fill out paperwork after you run something over.

Dont be afraid to take the whole road when turning. Get right the fuck in the other lane and make people wait
