Exhaust question again.

https://shop.redline360.com/collections/all/products/apexi-exhaust-honda-accord-4-cyl-coupe-03-07-ws3-catback-116akh28

I have a CM sedan and found this catback last thread. They say this is for a coupe. And while the undercarriage is the same for the TL and Accord, I noticed the bend towards the cat are slightly different on the sedan vs coupe. Any anons use coupe parts on the sedan? I can't imagine it being any different, though I kno it's possible. If it ain't, there's a few more options I can choose from. Asked elsewhere and was told RSX parts might interchange, but that's a different platform. Surprisingly found a DC Sports down pipe with no issue.

The CM coupe is like 1.9 inches shorter than a sedan overall and has a 2.8 inch shorter wheelbase, so I can't guarantee it would fit despite CMs sharing a lot of parts with each other.

Honestly Anon, I would just keep rocking with the 5AT, the CM5 is just such a great everyday cruiser, that enjoying it as such instead of a performance car that wouldn't be as reliable and pleasant to drive can bring you joy, try taking care of whatever maintenance items you can afford at any given moment, and you'd be surprised how good they are when the suspension is right, there's no fluids oozing out of anywhere, good set of tires, spark plugs and filter tuned up, PCV valve replaced and functional, A/C blowing in your face with your favorite music playing... its a good time.

>I would just keep rocking with the 5AT, the CM5 is just such a great everyday cruiser
The car's in amazing shape and still drives very nice, but it has >300k miles on it. The drivetrain is very very tired. It's making all sorts of clattery bottom-end noises, not straight-up rod knock (yet?) but still enough to where I don't trust it. Valves were adjusted FYI.
Also automatics piss me the fuck off, lugging the engine all the time, making me ride the brakes like a retard, sapping my low-end torque to spin stupid-fluid around so Becky doesn't have to press the clutch. I want a dingus stick in the CM SO bad.

From what i've heard, the hardest part is installing the clutch pedal (remove the dash, redirect the body wire harness, weld in a clutch bracket) but from there it's just typical Honda lego, bolt up a V6 subframe and suspension and it's ready to go.

Hmm, if you want a 6MT, you could probably steal one from a TSX, that way you know it would bolt up to a K24A, regardless of what's going on I would just stick with it because a noisy as fuck CM is probably more trustworthy than some of these ridiculous turbocharged things you can get now, as shit as CM Accords are, they're not even thinking of blowing the head gasket unless you extremely overheat it.

They're not well-known for upholding that warranty.
Dump it at 99k, or it'll throw a rod at 130k. Hyundai/kia still can't design a reliable engine in 2002+23.

Have another. Would you believe it's been totaled? lol. It was a driver airbag deployment for the core support and lower right bumper. But it's garaged, elderly driven since new, and when I inherit it, I'll do some light mods, keep the stock parts, and drive it in their memory.

I'm the one asking about 17x8 rims and an exhaust. Found Tien adjustable dampers, or what's left of them. Might buy them soon before there are no more. A thanks tough to you guys. Chillest people on /o/. I like you guys.

Jesus christ Anon, that's a nicer car than my clean title one that's never been hit real hard but has destroyed paint and 175,000 miles of wear and tear... but that would be an awesome car with some light suspension and wheel mods, maybe have the paint waxed every few months so it stays beautiful, cause that's awesome that the paint is still so decent, it's gonna take every bit of $3000+ paintless dent removal after meticulously masking things off to really make my car look good.

Yeah I seen yours in the threads. Very clean for what CMs are still around. This has had paint work on all panels but the driver and left rear door. And roof. Otherwise no structural damage. It doesn't get driven much and I'm afraid to do it when I have to to blow out the cobwebs. Our drivers her are getting worse by the day.

I'd like to pull a few dents out myself. Later this year I plan to tint the windows for her car so the sun doesn't destroy the interior. I have a 370,000 mile Pontiac with a bleached interior because of no window tint.

She's not bad Anon, nothing wrong with doing what's necessary to keep the car looking good, just having a CM that has clear coat intact and is shiny all over is gonna make people say "wow this car's really nice" even if it's a 2005 and some things had to be re-done... But don't feel scared driving it, I remember inheriting mine and being like "holy shit I'm driving alone in a car" but it wore off and I have been enjoying the thing for 8 years now.

went with an Elantra N and loving it so far, super fun to drive and best performance/dollar imo
ended up paying 27k cash out the door after my trade in
but yeah new cars are extensive, but used car values are even more overinflated imo so depending on what you'd want it could still be a favorable deal

Changed the front struts on my 2009 Honda Fit. Been putting it off cause I knew it would be a pain in the ass and it was. Previously changed the rear shocks which went a little easier. Everything was just so rusted. Changed my sway bar links last year which helped a little. Wanted to sell the car by now and get a CR-V, but they are so expensive. Oddly enough the hardest bolt was a 12mm brake line holder. Took an air impact gun to take off. So much rust that at first it was a 13mm until the rust fell off. A wrench couldn't be used because the metal it is on was thin and the whole bracket bent with any amount of tightening.

Car rides a lot better. It feels tighter and going over the same bumps I always do feel much nicer. Only cost like $160 from rockauto, so money wise it was worth it. Just really hard with all the rust from the winter salt in my area.

also, no my mechanic guy (owner of the shop) works on my family's cars, he honestly felt bad. this situation really put into perspective how old my car is - knowing that parts i guess are really scarce for my car for important stuff. blows my mind he couldn't find and no one could make a new windshield based on what he told me as he called everywhere or whatever - even used ones. had to get it from japan at a premium - the windshield probably cost more than my car.

Just sold my beloved Honda Civic 2007 to someone less fortunate who desperately needed a car. She needed a car, I need an upgrade. Specifically, I'm looking at being lower middle class instead of poor starting in 2026 and while that's a great step up, I need to be very fuel efficient in the near future as I need to do a LOT of traveling to find somewhere to move to and escape a decaying area being ruined by gentrification. Do NOT want to get dragged right back down to the poorhouse.

So, I'm considering a hybrid Honda as one potential step up. Next car's got to be a hybrid, and I certainly could go with a van given that that would potentially make it possible to camp in the back some nights and save big on hotel costs.

Honda Odyssey Plug-In Hybrid looks good, and the rather new Civic Hybrid also looks good. But, I also do NOT want telemetry in my car.

Knowing all this, is there a good Honda on the market for my needs, or should I seek something else? Mainly I want insane fuel economy and no telemetry. Those are the most important factors.

You're cruise control won't work because the switch needs to be pressed. When the clutch pedal is depressed, it breaks the circuit and turns off cruise. Yeah it's not really an issue, but I wouldn't want something dangling and interfering with my ability to use the pedals...

Looking at an EP3 (USDM) currently. Guy wants 3.5k for it. It has like ~235k on it but it looks to be in fantastic shape for the milage (not a lot of rust, interior is immaculate, body panels look straight, and paint looks good). It's been lightly riced ("cold" air intake, exhaust, coilovers). According to the seller it's got a bad IACV and idles funky when in neutral. Am I retarded for kinda wanting it? I want a little manual hatchback to put around in as a second car and have always had a soft spot for the EP3.

When the pedal is released the plunger is pressed down
The sensor appears to be taped, so that might let you keep cruise on with the pedal depressed
No clue why you would want to. That switch is also kind of the forward stop for the clutch. Maybe the clutch or master cylinder was going and he was hoping for some extra grip on the clutch? Not sure if a hydraulic clutch works that way

hey /hg/ my b20vtec ek will crank but not start and it seems like it's getting no fuel. The fuel pump does not prime when turning the key, the fuel system worked perfectly before the swap (d16y4). After a little research I believe it may be the hondata s300 or perhaps immobiliser. Some hondata forum posts discussed a similar issue and they mentioned cutting "J1" in the ecu to find the problem? should I do this bros and see what happens? or is there a chance the ecu is cooked?

cutting J1 defaults the ecu to the onboard map that wasn't stored on the EEPROM slot for the s300. as long as you can solder then no big deal to try it. if your MPFI relay isn't clicking and your pump isn't priming then you have another issue. In case the MPFI relay does click, go into smanager and make sure fuel prime isn't disabled (0 seconds). As far as immobilizer goes, the s300 does have a security setting that you can make sure is disabled. The onboard immobilizer is in the ECU you swapped out for the p28 or p72 so that's no longer an issue. If the MPFI relay doesn't work you'll have to do some diagnosing. Try checking the MPFI fuse under the dash (fuse 31) isn't blown. Also check fuse 44 on passenger side strut tower in the bay. Since you've done a swap, make sure ALL plugs are seated completely. ECU wire jumpers are a very common failure point too. most are crap quality or outright pinned incorrectly. I gave you some things to check so good luck.

thanks for the replies. the main relay is in good working order, i tested all pins according to the service manual and it clicks/has continuity when it is supposed to. I tested the plug where the relay goes in the car and it does not supply any voltage between the appropriate pins (pic related) when the key is turned to ignition. This is only with the pins associated with ecu so i'm led to believe ecu is surely the problem.
I have already tried fucking around in SManager to test fuel pump/make sure it is set to prime as it should. When i upload a calibration there is no confirmation on screen, is this a possible indication it's not functioning properly? I feel like something should happen.
Thanks for the advice about fuses/jumper harnes, i checked all fuses again and they're good. I previously tested the whole harness while it was out of the car to label all connectors. I did this through the jumper harness using an obd1 pin diagram with no issues so i believe all plugs are making good contact.

>the petrol versions are like10-30% more expensive
I always forget I live in the only European country that idolizes diesel like it's the second coming of Christ, because we are the exception and petrol cars are the cheaper ones here. Nevermind that diesels are more expensive to buy new or used, maintenance and parts are more expensive, you kill the engine if you only do city driving, and it sounds like a tractor going down the road.
>but fuel at the pump is 0.10€ cheaper!
Is all the retards seem to think about without realizing they need some 10 or 15 years to finally get a return on their higher investment cost. But honestly I should expect it from one of the most financially illiterate countries in Europe.

FK8 and FL5 are both ~200-300 lbs more than a 20 year old Civic, while making double the power. Don't act like its a 4000lb+ BMW. Considering what CAFE and vehicle safety standards have done to vehicle weight, I'm happy they don't weigh more. That weight is exactly why they didn't do AWD. AWD in these cars would put it in the weight class of their porky cousin.

Who socketed your ecu for the s300? might give them a shout and see if they can swap it out or redo the chipping service for you. you might have a loose pin in the socket or a broken solder joint. Continuity test the board from the solder pads on the back of the EEPROM ZIF socket to the pins inside the socket. try wiggling the socket while you continuity test it. the ecu might be dead in another way that I'm unsure. as far as uploading the tune to the s300, it doesn't really give you a notification. It's been a long time since I had a s300 since switching to Haltech but try making a small change like prime time, upload it to s300, key off, unhook usb cable, key back on, hook up usb, and download from ecu and see if it contains the change you made. that's a problem with these old ecus and piggybacks. it's like the tax collectors using Pascal. that's why I went with Haltech on mine.

I acquired the ecu with the engine and all other parts i bought for the swap. The previous owner had it running before the sale, but it was sitting (unconnected on my desk) for a few months before i finally got around to putting it all together. perhaps it shat itself since then in some way.
I am very tempted to swap to haltech and if it looks like the hondata solution is gonna cost too much i will go for it, seeing as though haltech make plug and play kits. I'd rather not open the ecu and start playing with shit so i've contacted the hondata dealer/specialist in my city to hopefully test my s300 in another ecu and inspect/repair the ecu. thanks again for all the help and i will try downloading the calibration as you suggested to make sure it's correct.

One of the ABS sensors sensors on my oil fouling civicu is malfunctioning and basically because of it nothing else in terms of assists really works (like LKAS etc) except the high beam sensor (displays an error but still works) and rain sensor.

Now none of these bother me except the steering is unusually light and doesnt center as quickly or completely as it normally would.

Now my question is, once I get it fixed, would it be possible to have ABS turned off through OBD2 but still have the steering function normally? I'd quite enjoy it on a track day. Would one of the 999 honda forums be worth asking? I hate having to sign up but idk where to search for this

This is undercoating right? The stuff running along the bottom of the car. It has a slightly rubbery texture when you poke it. I think the previous owner undercoated it frequently because for a 11 year old car in Canada it basically has 0 rust (except for the part I sanded down and will repaint). I think it's starting to rust under the undercoating as well. Does the undercoating need to be removed?

It has to be some sprayed on coating, Hondas are typcally smooth on the bottom of the painted surfaces, it only gets lumpy underneath the actual car because of the factory rustproofing, and it wouldn't be rubbery like the aftermarket coatings, that's really based to have an 11yo car in Canada with little to no rust, I've seen 7 year old minivans on Davidsfarm with more corrosion on it than my 21 year old car because Canada is so harsh.

Having a hard time deciding on an ecu for my car as I’m getting the turbo kit wrapped up. Pretty typical kit and plan on a 10psi spring until I build the bottom end. This would be something I would be tuning myself so some options definitely stick out since they “learn” and can make small adjustments. I have an obd2a car. Any advice from someone who’s been at this point in the last couple years?

So far it seems my options would be:

Chipped ecu & burner but think this is probably a bad bet, Snake Emu and ecu 650, S300 and ecu1000, Haltech 550 with harness 1200, Link G4X 1250

Also looking for injector, pump & o2 wideband kit advice. Planning on huntertuned injectors, walbro or kemso pump & really not a clue on the wideband

I have an old shitbox EF hatch that was bound to be a parts car that I'm trying to daily instead

It has many problems but the worst one is something to do with the choke? Or this stupid throttle body injection thing. For the longest time I thought it was an electrical issue.

The car:
- Starts when it sits for a long time, doesn't like to start again even if it only runs for a couple minutes
- Pisses out fuel if I look at this one connector wrong
- Idles shitty

I was fucking with it today and took the lid off the PGM or whatever the fuck Honda calls this thing and I see the choke plate is always shut, not sure where it's getting it's air from. The choke pull off isn't working.
It did the thing where it doesn't start and I held the choke open while my friend cranked it and - it started!

Now that I've isolated the issue somewhat I'm downloading a Haynes manual and wiring diagrams and such, but I thought I'd ask you lads, have you seen this issue before? And what the hell is supposed to be plugged into this connector at the back of the thingy?
It's a 1991 DX model

Also it has the classic Honda idle up and down, I adjusted the idle down and it stopped but now it bogs down at low RPM although maybe that's from the choke or the fuel leak, god help me

Ok this connector is broken and leaks horribly.

I found that connector on the back for the vacuum sensor or what was left of it hanging so I'll fix that and plug back in.

What is the thing in the image called pls help

Damn Anon, I've never seen a windshield de-laminate like that that, I still wouldn't do anything unless it's either leaking, or you can't see out of it, it is really easy to spend like $400 on fuckin windshields for Hondas when they get busted up.

That's a based as fuck head unit Anon, it's built similar to my DEH-S5120BT with the triple sets of 4V RCA outs, but mine doesn't have the satellite radio port which isn't really needed. I know it doesn't have an ultra premium look or feel, but internally they are well built for the price.

I once quoted $357 from safelite a few years ago for a CM because I was curious since my windshield has pitting and a massive wiper scratch, but I still decided to stick with it since I could see and it's not cracked. If the windshield is getting shitty enough, it wouldn't be a terrible use of money to have it changed, clear auto glass is a nice thing to have on your car.

Aftermarket glass should be OEM equivalent, maybe if it's not impossible you could use something like Hondapartsnow to put in the VIN of your car and get the actual OEM part number for a factory windshield if you want it to be the way it was from factory.

Fug, I did notice that TSX windows even on the side have weird mirror-y finish to them compared to the clear fishbowl of a regular Accord, which can really tax your ass if something breaks.

I would speak to local auto glass places and ask them about the glass having the solar protection of the factory glass.

I hate boomers so much bro, they couldn't afford to send their kids to college to have a better life with nice cars because they're shit parents, but at the same time they wanna act like they did a good job so they encourage their kids to go into debt and lobby to let the kids borrow massive amounts of money that they're stuck in debt with forever.

Luckily I didn't fall for it but holy shit these people are evil, I don't even encourage financial suicide on people I dislike.

I don't know Anon, you've gotta remove the roof moldings, and then find away to break the adhesive, and than suction cup the thing off, and then apply new black adhesive, and then you're hoping you put the fuckin thing on centered and not leaking afterward. You shouldn't feel any shame for paying a bodyshop or some auto glass place to put that thing on, having a CM is hard enough with the shit we can fix going wrong with it.

does honda not use centering clips or anything like that for windscreens? had a glass guy come and remove my rear window to reseal it due to a rust leak (he put on some of the real good shit™ for rust, not readily available to the general public) and there were little plastic clips all around that sat in little pockets created when the steel was stamped at the factory, these allowed the window to sit perfectly aligned while the new glue cured.

Probably Integra GS-Rs and shit like that, I'm glad Honda started with the NSX because there's a lot of people that would like an OEM clutch for their NA1, but couldn't get anything but aftermarket, I hope they extend that into non sporty cars like Acura Legends, because it is an inhuman feat of junkyard searching and knowing people to buy parts off of to restore one of those.

I've been thinking about your problem and this might be your solution. hit up jason waters on facebook or contact info on his site. he chips obd0/1 ecus regularly and he chipped mine about 10 years ago when I got into the game. really stand up guy. see what he says and send your ecu to him for repair if he thinks that's your issue. he can also replace your caps while he's in there or, if you prefer, buy one of his ecus already socketed and mail him yours as a core. Anyhow, good luck my friend.
