It really is, and these days a significant portion of people buying new cars have realized that. The only people hating this form factor are 'entooziasts" who want to larp as racers, but are too poor to afford an actual sports car.

Vehemently disagree. I've driven crossovers and "regular" cars that are based on the same platform, and the crossovers feel very unpleasant to drive by comparison. The vague, floaty handling is unpleasant when driving completely normally. Not only that, but compared to the equivalent conventional hatchback, their additional bulk usually results in less usable interior space. The wagon version of the conventional car will of course blow both out of the water.
The crossover mostly became dominant in countries that lack a "wagon culture". Compared to a sedan, a crossover is a far more practical vehicle, but if your baseline is hatches and wagons, then its only real benefit is that geriatrics can get in more easily.

I don't care for cuvs one way or the other but I love these threads because there's always this one idiot who will say
>Crossovers are GAY and for CUKS because they have worse mpgs than a sedan, less passenger space than a minivan, can't haul as much as a truck, and can't off-road as well as a 4x4
And when asked, which vehicle should people be buying that has the same mpgs as a sedan, as much passenger space as a minivan, can haul as much as a truck, and off-road like a 4x4, he'll say
>Well obviously there's no vehicle that does all 4 of those things that would be impossible

I've driven 3 CUVs in my life - a CX-5, an X5 and a Venza. All of them handled at least comparably to the typical commodity sedan, like a Corolla/Camry or a Civic.

how many times do we have to explain to you that this is literally the reason people buy them? no one cares or can even benefit from a theoretically potential extra 0.3L of space. they care about the thing they have to get into and out of multiple times every day and spend prolonged periods of time sitting in to be as comfortable as possible

Literally exactly the same as a Traverse.

What metric is used to measure this?
>better handling than a crossover
Does the extra half ton of weight with a higher center of gravity make it handle better?
>worse mpg than a crossover, but you're not a faggot that would prefer a trannyverse 4 banger over a longitudinally mounted V8, right?

>'entooziasts" who want to larp as racer
The funny thing is these enthusiasts are pretending like their soulless 1.6 turbo 4 cylinder FWD accord is somehow much more "fun to drive" and "handles better" than a crossover.
Face it, as soulless as crossovers are, the vast majority of sedans are soulless.
If I were to pick a sedan over a crossover, it better be a sport sedan that's RWD (which is exactly what i did). Otherwise I'll take the practicality.
And face it, an X3m/X5m soccermom crossover is FAR more fun to drive than 99% of shitbox sedans/hatchbacks/wagons/other reddit cars
Anonymous No.28440524

The "worst of all worlds" is such a retarded reddit argument.
Objectively speaking, a lifted car is easier to put car seats in and out of.
Objectively speaking, a hatch is superior to a trunk opening for cargo space.
What family people want these days is a lifted hatchback, i.e. a crossover.
They don't have the money to buy a coupe for the weekends, a sport sedan daily, and an SUV/minivan for road trips.

its not just about getting in and out, its about saving your back as you change a diaper or load in a car seat or take out a stroller. They are family cars.
The only thing better about a lower car is about handling... but no one cares about handling in a family car

Calling that thing a crossover SUV is disingenuous as fuck in the first place, it's just a hatchback with weight issues.

By comparison, I own an Ioniq 5 and while I do really like it and it does handle pretty well because of the low center of gravity, I can still tell it would feel better to drive if it wasn't trying to be an SUV. If I'd been able to get one at a comparable price to what I paid and if they weren't so much uglier, I'd have rather had an Ioniq 6 for exactly that reason.
