Wait until you try a Cobra. Almost 100 more horsepower, progressive rate springs that soak up little bumps better, and are stiffer in the corners, a low friction 14.7:1 steering rack and bigger brakes with the same PBR calipers on the Corvette.

I kinda wanna try a Mustang as a Japanese car guy. Hard shopping for S197 3vs and Cobras atm. I hated the dimensions (way too big), flexy chassis, lack of suspension travel, and ergos of my LS1 Z28 but feel like if it was a SN95 Cobra I would've probably loved it since the Mustangs have better ergos and smaller form factors.

Oddly I was neutral on the LRA, it did make the car more nervous but it was very predictable, I didn't like the brakes instead (too small for a 350hp 3400lb car).

Love me a good mustang, but I love the 4th gen Camaros and Trans Ams a little more. My 94 TA with 3.73 gears, full 3" exhaust and Long tubes eat up any sn95 thats not a modded cobra. New Edge GTs dont stand a chance either and even hurt the ego of a 05ish GT

The LT1 Camaro front end was the best followed by LS1 WS6. LS1 Camaro looked like Saturn sports car and the LT1 Trans Am looked like a fucking 1994 Grand Am.

My biggest problem is the 4th Gens were too fucking big with long hoods and huge overhangs. Nearly 2 feet longer than a mustang of the same years. And they sit low so the foot wells are super long like you're meant to be 6'4 with a 40in inseam to drive one.

Unfortunately the OP's mustang is the most homely-looking model in recent memory but its still much better than a camaro.

The 4.6 would have been fine if they made them all 4v, even just sohc 4v for the baser models and simply tuned around for the intended bracket. Probably could've got another 5 years of market/emissions life out of them too.

I was actually planning on selling in a few years and don't want to change its stock form to get more cash back. But honestly after having it for about a year I might do something similar to this. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SAGim1ZYz-M

Some chrome exhausts, lowering springs, chrome rims. It's honestly plenty fast for me even though I kinda want to get a 2007-09 GT500. But I shall see where the prices on those will be and how much I still like this mustang down the line.

>I was actually planning on selling in a few years and don't want to change its stock form to get more cash back.
If that's the case I would go with an aftermarket x-pipe instead of a catback, you get more power, still get more volume and it's reversible. You have to cut the stock pipes to put a catback on and get basically no extra power. I would also consider a shifter like a MGW, makes a huge difference and is also reversible when you go to sell. Either way at this point you're not going to lose money, it seems like SN95s have bottomed out. Locally I've seen clean SN95s listed for more than S197s.

Here's an example of stock catback with an x-pipe.
