Float boats/yank tanks/land yachts are completely different creatures that cater to rare and sophisticated sensibilities.

You float over bumps in your over stuffed sofa bench seat in air conditioned comfort as you gaze over your acre of hood. You navigate corners slowly like a ship coming into port. Because you are an important person and hurrying is for peasants with deadlines. You give people deadlines and hurry for no one.

You put out your cigarette in one of your five illuminated ash trays as you arrive at your destination. People take notice as the Chryslerโ€™s sheer mass dwarves anything else in the parking lot. You step out of your private chrome Death Star dressed like Don Draper, making an entrance that men envy and women desire.

Chrysler needs to return to its roots, itโ€™s the luxury division and needs to start acting like it if itโ€™s going to survive.

I could save her.

tbf a TRX does pretty much everything an old land yacht could do but a lot better as well as many other tasks. 35/37'' tires and soft long travel suspension is going to float you down the road just like a land yacht. While it may not have comfy sofa seats the interior is just as spacious and more luxurious.

The original concept was sound.
>get on boat.
>go to cabin.
>go to sleep.
>wake up off the coast of a new country
>go ashore and check out historical sites and culture.
>goto 10
Now people get on board and spend their entire trip on ship. When they do get off the boat its a manufactured port city with 14 foot high walls to keep out the kidnappers and souvenirs made from sea shells from ebay and hot glue. The cruise lines figured out if you stay on the ship the entire time you spend more money on booze and game passes for the kids.

>WTF why doesn't nuclear energy work in civilian vessels?
Too many ports wouldn't allow Savannah in due to scary nukular power. No doubt the Soviets threw some money to encourage that just as they did the anti-nuke crowd (read: hippies) in the US proper. Still, if that shiny new toy can't go anywhere you might need it to then it's not going to catch on.

Further, considering things like the Marine Electric, Oceanos, and El Faro, to just name a very few of the literally hundreds of examples of horrible neglect and incompetence, do we really want a nuke plant in the hands of a shipping company?

No doubt. Yet trom a balcony going 25 it's surprisingly tranquil, at least when the air is pretty still and sea level. It's not even particularly bothersome from a wing of a bridge, somehow.
