Hello frens. I just bought a C6 this weekend at the recommendation of this board and I couldn't be happier. It's a 2011 base model (1LT) so it has the LS3. Needs a little love but mechanically in very very good condition.
Would like to track it someday. First upgrade will need to be new tires as the current ones are 9 years old (they were stored properly so no dry rot but still dangerous). Also would like to do fluid flush for everything.
I was researching and I saw some people saying the base LS3 has an oil starvation problem due to the wet sump. Is this real, and should I be worried about it? From what I can tell it only affects circuit racing where there are high g forces that slosh the oil around in corners.
The two solutions I saw online were to install an upgraded baffled oil pan or an accusump. I have tools, a little experience doing engine-related work, and I think I could do either of these jobs but I'm wondering if one is better than the other, or if one is a better value. I can't afford to install a dry sump and I don't have the capability but I could probably install one of those two solutions for less than 1k on jackstands.
Oh also my c6 makes a weird rattle near the shifter for a couple seconds when shifting into gears especially if i shift into a gear too high. It's a stick. Maybe related to clutch? Goes away after a second, I think it might be normal.
