for "rare edition"s, what the difference between the brz series purple, and the 86 kakone? Theres a purple drank brz nearby thats been marked down below limited trim msrp by a couple 100 bucks. what does the gr86 "rare" have that the brz purp doesn't besides the 12k price delta? Looks like the 86 has better brakes but thats all i can see

Idk about the purple one but the hakone edition is limited run, they make only 860 of them a year or something. You pay for the artificial scarcity.

>when you add any options
If you're worried about the price, those options aren't for you. They're for people who don't really look at the price. Buy the base model, and if that's still too much for your budget buy it used. If that's still too much to budget, buy a beater. Buy what's within your budget, if Toyota makes a scam car that doesn't mean it's for you. The trim level options are always a fucking scam.

>The 86 beats a fucking hellcat
around what track?
it did not beat a Hellcat. an unskilled person driving a gr86 improved his lap time by 17 milliseconds over his own run in a dodge challenger hellcat, on an unknown track in unknown conditions for an untrustworthy british youtube channel.

find me a video of either run. surely if there is a laptime they must have recorded and posted it. i will wait.

if you drive a car for the "feels" then there is nothing that "feels" better than slinking around in one of these thick slabs of american steel and knowing its stupid ass is up for whatever, wherever. it is a cultured automotive taste you have to grow out of a rattly japanese tin can to appreciate. pushing a big torquey car around is more fun at low speeds too. the feeling of body roll is more decisive, for lack of a better term, the car settles in its suspension in turns faster and firmer. you have to be going stupid fast in a lighter car to get that.
