Have you reserved your Slate truck yet?

They look pretty badass and seem easy to maintain. And cheap price.

Those federal incentives aren't going to be around much longer killing this things "cheap" price point.
I think it was vaporware from the beginning anyway. Honestly, great way to get free money. Even if they give all those deposits back, they got to earn interest on them the whole time the fags who believed their crap waited around.

Incentives were already stopped. They have 3d renderings of the truck and thats it. Its vaporware. Some guy thought up some idea and attracted nearly a billion in investment cash, then second round of fundraising they're at like $1.7Billion so they're at that awkward state of some lunatic was clearly just trying to live a luxury lifestyle of selling a desirable idea to wealthy idiots but now that they've got bigboy money its time to start delivering something tangible.

The unfortunate part is everyone other than investors know this is simply DOA. They don't have a factory, they don't have test mules, they don't have anything. So they're a solid 3+ years away from a demonstrable product. In that time inflation and parts prices will slowly rise causing it to be a $40,000 EV, its possible nobody will be in the market for a cheep and cheerful EV even if they manage to keep it under $30k, but nobody but retards who have no intention of buying one are excited about it.

As anon pointed out, its a $50 refundable deposit. Tesla has had about a 2% deposit to purchase rate and Slate has what? 400,000 deposits? Good luck keeping a car company going on numbers like that.

I will also say, as the other anon pointed out, it does feel like someone was paid to come to 4chan /o/ and make these faux "wow doesn't this look great, fellow kids?" posts. The unfortunate part is they're clearly paying some indian to do it for $2 a thread, and probably $0.50 per post to drum up fake excitement. I've seen it in comments sections on other sites based on the phone scam level grammar.
>And cheap price.

im not that guy but he is noticing a genuine pattern. surprisingly similarly-posting people make these same threads about this same fake truck regularly.
whether you are a paid shill or not isn't really the point. it is known that companies pay to have their products shilled on the internet and this is one of the places to do it, along with facebook and x and reddit, which i presume you probably use at least on of. so you coming here to even talk about this thing IS marketing, even if you are not personally on the marketing team and not being paid to shill a product, you have been encouraged by marketing to do so.

i also question strongly when people allegedly come to /o/ for general automotive discussion, like you, trying to pass yourself off as a "white canadian who works in construction" like this is reddit or something
sir this is a weeaboo anime porn website. the fuck you are. get out of here.

>he does it for free

Its a flop of a truck. Its never going to be made. This is the exact same "hype" over canoo's marketing. They make a funny little segment disruptor statement, months of 3D generated images that look convincing. Then they make some models of it that can't even roll forward, then they make 1 that just has any electric motor in it and enough battery to go about 1000 feet to say they've made a completed product for a really big name like USPS or NASA or some other jerkoff company with inifinity budget that'll totally buy 10,000 of them day one.

Whoops, we're bankrupt. Sorry.
Canoo, Nikola, Solyndra, Juicero, Fisker, Aptera, Bright Automotive, Coda Automotive, Faraday Future, and Sono Motors.
That list of failed EV companies that never made anything but somehow incinerated billions just keeps growing. I'm beginning to think its some Billionaires money laundering or tax evasion scam of throwing big money at a visibly failing company, and whoopsiedoodles its bankrupt shortly therafter.

Cheap EV small truck/SUV. It has zero competition. The next cheapest EV truck available is the F150 Lightning which is absolutely massive comparatively and starts at 52k. Even if it doesn't get the tax credit it still beats the F150 by a non-insignificant $17k. If you broaden the "small truck" search to include ICE vehicles there still isn't anything available that small either, like what the Ranger used to be.

>Cheap EV small truck/SUV. It has zero competition.
Did anyone ever stop to ask the question
>Why aren't existing car companies currently making something like this?
No? Because a $27,500 "truck" that doesn't have power windows or a radio is competing with something like a Ford Maverick at $30,000 which has sold tens of thousands is likely to stand in the way of Slate's success.
>But the Maverick isn't a full EV!
Have you seen EV sales numbers? They're still going down. If you're so fucking poor the very best you can do is a $27,500 EV, you likely don't have an affordable way of charging it (like a house) and you're not qualifying for a loan to buy a brand new vehicle from a brand new company. This is a billionaires idea of what poor people want while working their customer service job in Portland. Thats why its never going to sell. No actual consumers are asking for a subcompact cheesedick level trim vehicle for $30k.

Their mission statement was a highly customizable and "affordable" EV. Ever notice they were calling it a $20,000* truck? Because it was always a $27,500 relying on a $7500 tax credit. To cite the F150 lightning as its next competition is disingenuous at best: an F150 lightning is a full size truck allegedly with over double the range of a Slate truck, has a luxury interior, and has a tow rating of like 10x the slate. It flopped with 0% interest rates and $100k trucks outselling it.

And people really liked small vehicles too, given they lasted many decades until the fuel economy standards that got stricter every year became too strict to justify the R&D cost to make it pass, and they still exist in other countries that don't have (as) retarded of a government. This retard is seething, they do have a factory and do have working models, the problem is 100% the lack of incentives and the market in general favoring used cars in it's price point. A truck buyer will get a used truck for cheaper, a vehicle buyer has pretty much every car (used) in the 20-30k bracket, and EV buyers are too little and mostly buy used Tesla's or lease expensive EVs. Without the 20k price point this truck is pretty pointless.
