What's the craziest thing you've ever done in your car?

I drove through our workplace parking lot and weaved through some cars going really fast. i didn't think anyone saw me, except one guy, who was just standing there gawking for 2 straight minutes looking at me as i walked by.

I feel bad that i probably scared him.

Scratched several meters of the guard rail with my rear bumper corner while powersliding on an interchange while driving a truck with passengers. No visible damage to the bumper (had already scratched corners), got frowned upon by some passengers aware of what just happened.

I hit a pedestrian. Idk if he died but they were looking for leads for a couple months. I buried my head in the sand and ignored it.

Long time ago while still in the military and during pipeline training the absolute last fucking place you want to be is still in the barracks on a weekend. If you have a car you can dissappear from 5pm Friday until 10pm Sunday for some minor freedom. Even if you're broke a night in a car is less hell than being at the barracks.

Why was the barracks so bad you may ask? You get surprise inspections, pulled for CQ duty (stand post), weekend cleaning detail, management errands, voluntold work parties, landscaping work, mess hall staffing, and other bullshit you wanted no part of but to be left the fuck alone for just a short time. Many times the cold nights in a car without a blanket was far better than someone kicking, pounding my door and screaming at me to get out of my room at 3am to fill in for firewatch because somebody was drunk off their ass.

I got some of the best sleep in that car while I was temporarily free...

They do something similar in Mongolia. Their government hybrid incentives are so good that Priuses are everywhere there. There's also Prius-specific lift kits, with one guy doing up to an eight-inch lift on his G2 Prius.

a pipe dream idea for me is to run a defensive course (read: actually just straight up larping for fun under the guise of "defense"). just get a big ass empty field, some beater cars and make up some little course as an excuse to drive around and get a feel for shooting from a moving vehicle while driving. every time some big police debacle happens like that crazy ups truck shootout, we would set up a course to practice "HOW TO SURVIVE THIS TACTICAL SITUATION".

same thing ive wanted to do with /o/. a special closed course that simulates a town. make the buildings, street poles, intersection lights, everything, yadda yadda out of foamcore. then, let 4-5 guys in special modified cars (make them as safe as possible and build in some sort of remote lockout/control). then, you let the drivers....get wasted. everyone gets a six pack and gets to drive around this simulation town. the remote control operators watch via camera and make sure they dont do anything TOO dumb like straight up hit eachother dead on at 55 mph, but, let you drive around and do silly races and perform traffic stops and pit manuevers while intoxicated.

do it all under the guise of again either safety or defense. "what if you have been DRUGGED, or your at the bar having a few drinks and HAVE TO DRIVE FOR YOUR LIFE! safety course!". reality: hey you can drink, drive, and crash here for fun, legally!

the insurance on both of these probably makes this completely impractical.

hmm yeah, lets the cops get some practice in for training, you agree to participate in a fake chase and arrest. let them test and try pitting a "real" drunk driver, would be a cool little trade. get chased by a real cop while intoxicated through a specially designed fake town. probably would end up being pretty expensive, a hobby for rich people.

man, i didn't even hit 120 but it was on a rural back road and somewhat unmaintained. it definitely does feel like it's floating at that speed, I could feel the tyres bouncing off the road but otherwise the entire car just gently bounced slowly up and down.
