Nice bike with good handling.
> test riding a recent model year NC750
Awesome bike, the handlebars are in perfect position and the seat is molded to match the shape of my ass.
> preordered and now bought 2025 NC750
What a piece of shit with uncomfortably shaped seat and handlebar being too far away forcing me to lean forward a bit making my back hurt after two hours and the vibrations are subtle but strong enough to trigger rsi in my right hand now my thumb hurts like it does after riding much more vibration-heavy bikes rrrrrrrrRRRRRREEEEEEEE

So the guy who suggested the battery is dead seems to have been right. I received the charger today and charged it: now it seems to have swollen up a little. RIP. I ordered a new one. It's an antigravity 401, lithium-iron-phosphate, barely used but it sat around for 4 years ish. I guess that's pretty much their lifespan.

It does start though... so I'm very tempted to just ride with the battery swollen like that tomorrow morning since I'm annoyed it'll be the weekend and I haven't gotten to ride my new bike yet.

google "motorcycle road rash bad"
also going [the legal speed limit] with vents open on your jacket, or zip slightly open on your suit, makes a world of difference

I'd take being stuck in traffic, 100+ in leathers, rather than the smallest bit of roadrash from a 20mph crash
And what's worse, when you fall off without gear, the best the hospital can do is scrub you down with the most abrasive shit known to man to clear the area, pick at you with cold metal tweezers to get the little chunks of rock out, then throw alcohol on you to hope it doesnt get infected - and you'll probably sit in a waiting room for 2-3 hours before this happens, and painkillers dont help
it is NOT fucking worth it

Tried out the new DRZ-4SM at the "Take it to the Streets" event near me today.
I got to try the blue one. They only had 2 anyway.
I thought it was pretty neat. The demo was on surface streets, the interstate, and country roads. It did well on all of them. Overall
>Comfortable ride
>Very Torquey (would be a wheelie monster if you turned off TC)
>Faster than I thought it would be
>Well handling on tight corners
>Simple design is kind of appealing to me
I really liked it, but I also have no real experience on SuperMotos. It was a cool intro to them for me and it sort of made me want one. Only sort of, though. For $10k I just wouldn't see myself getting one. For the same price I could get a TransAlp or Tenere 700 for an ADV, or an MT-09 or GSX-8R for something sportier. Considering the bike itself sort of feels like a compromise between what those are trying to do, I'd probably just pick one of those. I also can't compare it to any other SuperMotos because I haven't ridden them, but I'd imagine it would rank pretty high for those who like them.

Well-ventilated textile gear. I wore this shit when it was 91 the other day and yeah, it sucked at stoplights etc., but once I was out of town and could keep my speed up it was like sitting in an air-conditioned car the whole time. It's admittedly very dry heat where I am though, I feel bad for people in places like the Northeast, at least my area makes up for its long winters with perfect summer riding weather and places like Florida or AZ let you ride all year if you can handle the summer heat but the NE and other places just fuck you all year except maybe a bit in spring and fall.

How you liking the DR as a first bike? I just got licensed last month myself and considered one but it was a little more than I wanted to spend (and no good used ones available) and I was iffy about carb since I deal with a lot of elevation change (I live at 4,000ft, was up around 7,000 on Tuesday, and down to about 2,500 yesterday), plus I wanted the lightest thing practical so I went with a KLX300 instead. Long story but basically it's hard to compete with a million simps who give her more attention in a day than you can give her in a week and only ever stroke her ego. She also just got crazy with dumb shit in the cosplay community, any time somebody talked about another cosplayer who did the same costumes as her she took it as a personal slight, constant flipping between best friends and worst enemies over nothing, etc.

I feel bad for the dude she's married to now, she was living with some mutual friends when they got together and apparently she treated him like absolute dogshit while he was a total simp who just backed her up on all of her crazy vendettas, random freakouts, etc.

Alright guys, I test rode the V100 Mandello today, and I need to tell you, this is the best bike I've ever ridden. It has really great power, enough to power wheelie in the first 3 gears. It has great agility and feels very light because its weight is borne low. It's supremely comfortable, I could probably ride this for 600 miles with no issue. And it has good wind protection for going fast on the highway. The engine is characterful and interesting, with good grunt and vibrations. The screen is responsive and the information is laid out nicely. It has cruise control. It has a fucking SHAFT drive. I could honestly sell every bike I own and just be happy with this, which I'd do if I weren't sentimentally attached to them. Truly an amazing machine.

However, I'm not much of a seasoned rider, as I've only touched a cbr300r.
I'm looking to upgrade to a T120, and the weight difference is noticeable. My question is, how much harder is it to "dance" a heavier bike like the T120 in this sine manner?
When i said agressive, I meant it.

I bought a bike yesterday, it needs a hidden kill switch in it because it is worth stealing (I think)
How do I install one? This has delicate electronics so i'm paranoid. I installed one in my old carburated bike by installing a switch in series with the ignition coil but it had zero electronics, and the battery/alternator were so weak they couldn't start a fire, either, basically zero risk.
I think it's supposed to be wired in line with the fuel pump (that's how you do it with cars) and there are youtube videos too which i'm watching now, but if you have experience with this, that would be invaluable.

That's definitely on the heavier side. What are the specs on your body and strength?
Be careful with those aggressive sweeps, especially on asphalt. You can lose the front tire or get a speed wobble if you hit uneven surface.
It makes people nervous being that aggressive, so kind of understandable if you're constantly doing it.

>>28458066
The lighter bikes are definitely more nimble though, and turn in easier. Not really a strength issue I would say though, only at low speed like you said.

That's what I mean though, even though the prices everywhere have spiked, you can still pretty reliably find deals on clean bikes. Relatively, at least. The used and new car market has been abysmal for like 5 years now, like I said I looked for a solid 6 months and almost all the cars I would have wanted were absolute piles, takeover driftmissles or 300k miles in and just in desperate need of a full top to bottom rebuild. The ones in decent shape were going for way more than I would willingly pay since everyone knows it's going to sell even if they ask for 2-4k more than what it's worth.

Side note, I was just looking at buying an 1100 like that. What do you think? I was either gonna buy something like that or save up for next season and get an Indian.

Wiring is not something to be scared of in this day and age. You're ultimately just adding a second NO/NC (depending on how it's wired) contact before the wiring goes back to ground. A basic set of crimping pliers, a cheap heat gun, strippers, and crimps with built in heatshrink won't cost you that much money, and will be good for all of the electrical work you could ever think about doing to a bike.

Maybe because i've seen bad examples of it, and because i'm not good at it?
even if I was, it feels like a bad modification or a hack job.
i once bought the cheapest used car on the classified that had clean papers. it was mechanically ok, but the wiring was really bad. It once died on me (no power) so I powered the ignition coil directly with spare wire I had with me in the car (car was carburated and had a distributor - no electronics). and the next day when I diagnosed it, i traced down the fault to the main wire from the battery. the retards had cut it for some reason and then twisted it together. It just feels like the more you modify the wiring, the more points of failure you are adding, thus reducing the reliability. It's also rather difficult to pinpoint a wiring fault and it only becomes harder the more expensive/modern your vehicle is.

Only the usual. Ask them to start it cold, verify it idles when warm (may need the choke to warm up), check the throttle and both brakes for function.

If it's hit the dirt, maybe check the screws on the handlebar clamps. Most places will mark 2 up 2 down with permanent marker on the bolts. If the paint is there, verify the bolts are still in position, and the front wheel is straight to the both the handlebars and frame.

You know, I hadn't really thought about this before, but I wonder why Kawi doesn't stick that engine in something like the KLR chassis. It'd basically solve the main complaints about the KLR while maintaining the legendary reliability. It seems to be a decent combo judging by the X-Cape, which uses a Chinese clone of that engine too. (Quality and reliability are a different story with that but a real Kawi wouldn't have that problem.)

The 1250 RT is honestly a better overall bike for general use compared to the K1600, the K1600 is bigger and smoother on the highway, but is heavier, more maintenance-intensive, and costlier to maintain, on top of worse handling for city driving. So unless your local PD is doing a lot of long distance highway patrolling, the 1250RT makes sense.

And it does look pretty good as well.

This has happened with a lot of departments, BMWs started gaining popularity (in the US) with police departments in the mid 2010s. That's not at all the reasoning. The whole reason any department goes with any vehicle for anything is because they get the best deal on their fleet sales. A BMW Touring Bike, Harley Road Kang, or Yamaha Touring bike all do the exact same job perfectly fine. They're only expected to go so fast and do so much. They also need to worry about servicing their fleet and ease of access to said service. So if you don't have a large BMW Motorrad dealer in your area, you'd be retarded to get a BMW bike for you Department.
My dad's department went from Road Kings to Honda Pan-Europeans ST1100s and eventually back to Road Kings. Why? Because their only real option were road kings due to having 2 dealers in the area for intense service. Honda came along and offered a better deal on their bikes and there were also 2 dedicated Honda dealers in the area for service. They switched back to Harley partially because they got a better deal and Honda discontinued the ST1100. There was only one BMW dealer in the whole city and it was much smaller and wouldn't be able to handle their whole fleet, so that never would've even been seen as an option.
