>>28465202imo only tesla does screens well. in their rush to imitate tesla, every mfg did the screen thing, but they failed to understand 2 things
a) the screen thing worked for tesla because it played to its main strength, software engineering, and allowed them to sidestep things they were weak on, interior design and quality. tesla couldn't design the same sort of interior that bmw could, much less build it to the same level of quality. but it could make a far better screen only UI than bmw could. so, minimalism + giant screen it is, and later for beautiful design, switchgear, etc.
b) what made tesla so successful wasn't the giant screen in the middle, but having an overall outstanding UX. also investor speculation, sure, but mostly the UX. and the UX isn't the giant screen, but the fact that the giant screen works well, its fast and responsive, its well thought out, etc.. and ofc also the fact that teslas are EVs, and if you can charge at home its extremely convenient. also the fact that tesla's extreme minimalism actually makes for a very relaxing driving experience.
also, imo luxury cars, true ones, RRs, bentleys, ferarris and the like, should stay away from screens altogether, as they will age HORRIBLY. if they can be expected to age at all, which is highly doubtful. chances are, 20 years from now, all the screens in current cars will be dead, with no way to replace them. which is fine if the car in question is a corolla, you just turn it into a cube and send it to india to further poison their environment, yay. but that shit is not fine for a RR or a fefe or a bentley or a bugatti. those cars are meant to be collectibles, to endure.
